The heroine of the book is no shrinking violet, she is a woman with her own mind and therefore there is no surprise that her hero is a man of strong personality to match her own.
Carlyle has created an environment in which a romance of equals is acceptable. The trend these days is for the heroine ... ...at the start and then give it all up when she meets her knight. No such thing here which is a breath of fresh air. The story line is great and the intrigue will keep you glued to the pages.
If you are a lover of historical romance you will love this book and because it is part of a series the lives of the character just don't end there, you get to see them move on in the next book.
