My makeover |
|---|
I have been promising myself a make over for years, having dedicated what seems like the majority of my life to bringing up my kids and looking after my husband I decided it was high time I had a new look and a bit of pampering. With the last of my kids safely tucked away at university I started putting a bit of money aside each week until I had enough to buy ten pictures and then I booked the appointment.
The most enjoyable part of the day for me was the make up. I have always been pretty hopeless with make up and was really looking forward to getting a lesson and some professional hints and advice. The make up lady was wonderful and explained it all to me. She matched the foundation to my skin colour and used a combination of shadows to create a natural look and perked up my lips with liner and gloss, it looked wonderful.
I had not paid for a makeover that included hair colour but the stylist suggested going a bit lighter. I have been dying my hair jet black for years to cover up the grey that started in my early twenties and the stylist said that I made my skin look pale so going a few shades lighter would make all of the difference so I paid the extra and could not believe the difference it made, with lighter hair and that lovely make up my skin seemed to really glow.
I was so nervous of having my pictures taken I almost thanked them very much for the hair and make up and scarpered but I think they noticed my nerves and got me in front of the camera and made it so much fun that I totally forgot to be nervous.
I have no idea how many pictures were taken all in all but it was a lot more than I had expected.
Choosing the shots that I wanted was really hard because I loved so many of them. looking back I wish I had been able to buy more but on the other hand I am not sure where I would have put them.
I got home that night and put on a really nice meal for my husband who looked totally shocked when he walked through the door to be faced with the new me and without putting too much of a fine point on it, it was one of the best evenings we have had in years
For any busy wife and mum I think this is a lovely experience and not only puts the spring back in your step but the zoom into your love life
