New Look aims to provide up to the minute fashion at reasonable prices. There are stores in most towns and cities so you should have no problems in finding one near you.

My review is based mainly on the store in the Arndale Centre, Manchester.
On approaching the store there are two large windows either side of the door with mannequins displaying some of the lastest ranges of clothes. The displays are well set up - tidy, bright and clearly displaying the prices at the feet of the mannequin.

Although New Look is focused mainly on women, they do stock men's clothes, not as wide a range though. I never seem to see men buying anything, or even browsing there unless they are with girlfriends, so maybe New Look has some way to go with respect to attracting men into the store. Mind you, the men's range seems to have been scaled down a little bit in my local store so maybe they are phasing it out, I don't know.

There is a small department for children from 9 years to 15 years old. To be honest though, I'm not sure how many girls of 15 would buy from there, as some of the clothes seem quite young, also they run the risk of bumping into a nine year old dressed in the same outfit. Maybe I'm wrong though.
On the other hand, some of the stuff seems a bit too old for a nine year old so it seems to go from one extreme to the other. The clothes are lovely though and I have seen things that I would buy for myself if they fitted.

The Inspire range is a plus-size range which is sized from 16-22. Again it isn't a huge range, but the clothes are fashionable, not the large tent-type things of the past. It seems to consist of a mixture of capsule clothes such as black trousers, and plain tops which can be worn everyday, and fashionable things. Compared to other plus-size shops, they are reasonably priced. They also stock a small selection of wide-fitting shoes.

Shoes are a big passion of mine, and I nearly always see some I like in New Look, they have a good range of dressy shoes, not much in the way of casual shoes or trainers though. The range seems to change regularly, there's nearly always some new styles in stock, and they usually have a good range of sizes in. New Look have won awards for their shoe range, in fact. Obviously it depends on the individual style, but prices generally start from £20 - £30. The shoes I have bought from there have been brilliant quality.

Ladieswear has a good choice of fashionable clothes most of which are quite reasonable, I've picked up a lovely summer dress for £18 which can be worn as a dress or as a top over jeans for different looks. I find they stock pretty much all of the seasons trends even the absolutely minging ones, but hey, they can at least say they are on the ball with fashions.

Having said that though, some things are a bit expensive for what they are, for example the printed T-shirts with images of retro characters like My Little Pony or Rainbow Brite which cost about £18. I know they have to pay for licensing if it's a copyrighted image, but we used to sell similar things in our store for £8 - so £18 is a lot in my opinion.

Obviously the range changes considerably, as fashions and seasons change, so you aren't always going to find things that you like, especially between seasons. There are basic ranges though that pretty much stay the same, such as the jeans and casual tops.

There are also accessories such as jewellery, hats and bags to complement most of the clothes, again they are well priced if you just want the current season's style.

The Arndale store is neatly laid out for the most part, styles are logically laid out, for example office wear together, casual tops with the jeans and sportswear, colour schemes are blocked together allowing you to easily find a complete outfit.

Each store varies considerably in size, and what they stock, for example the Arndale store in Manchester is well stocked and roomy - sufficient room to move between the displays, whereas the old store store in Bangor, North Wales was tiny - a person with a pram would block the aisle, and there wasn't even much space for them to move out of the way. Thankfully though they have moved to much larger premises. Some stores don't seem to have a very good range, and what they do have in don't seem to be in many sizes - it's as if they just get the remnants that other stores can't sell.

They very often have sale rails on the shop floor aswell, which I find to be a bit hit and miss, but then again it is the stuff they can't sell. I have picked up bargains a few times, but sometimes the clothes are a bit tatty looking and not reduced very much.

Generally the quality of the clothes are good, I can't remember ever having to take anything back because it's fallen to bits. The sizing tends to be pretty good too, I can usually pick my size up and it fits fine.

There are a few changing rooms at the back of the store which are manned, they are clean, and are as well lit as any other (i.e give you that lovely grey pallour!) There is someone always manning the fitting room when I've been there, although judging by the empty hangers I've seen left in the cubicles maybe this is not always the case.

The staff are polite and helpful, although they do tend to look like they really want to be somewhere else. Although let's be honest, we all have days like that that in work, I know I've had more than my fair share.
In terms of their service, I have only taken one thing back because it didn't fit, and they refunded my money without any fuss. I do find that they can sometimes be a bit slow on the tills, I have been kept waiting when there are only maybe three people in front of me. I am tempted to think though that this may be due to customers farting about at the tillpoint.

New look also has a website, I've had a quick look to see what it's like and I've found that while it's very stylish and looks good it's not very useful for browsing. It has tiny thumbnail pictures of models with the clothes on and you have to scroll through the choices beforehand - whereas I'd prefer a picture of just the garments laid out on the page - and you have to click on the image to get a larger picture.
This is probably useful if you know what you are loking for, but not very good for browsing, not very clearly laid out.

I would recommend New Look stores for up to the minute, fashionable clothes, as they are good quality and reasonably priced. You could get clothes for any occasion, smart, casual or glam without too much trouble I think, and you could pick up a whole outfit including bag and shoes for a very reasonable amount.
