Mario is back in a proper 2D platforming adventure. Just because it's old school though doesn't mean it's old hat...The lowdown:Considering the last Super Mario Bros. game is still the best selling video game of all time (17.28 million copies and counting) this has a lot to live up to, but it almost effortlessly captures the action and charm of the old games. The basics of the game are the same as always as you run and jump through mostly horizontally scrolling levels. New to the game are power-ups that turn Mario into a giant or make him really tiny, as well as one that gives him a Koopa shell on his back to attack enemies with. Although the gameplay is all in two dimensions the graphics are 3D, with all new moves such as the triple jump and wall jump added in as well. Most exciting moment:As well as the single player mode there's also a wireless multiplayer mode where you get to battle a friend (as Luigi) across a whole bunch of specially designed levels.Since you ask:As Super Mario World on the SNES (since re-released as Super Mario Advance 2 on the GBA) was subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan that name couldn't be used for this new game, although that's secretly whatever everyone's calling it - behind Nintendo's back. The bottom line:The impossible has happened: Nintendo have created a worthy follow-up to Super Mario Bros. 3!Harrison Dent

Advantages: Immediate fun for everyone Disadvantages: Half of the game lies in hidden extras
...I would never see a new Super Mario Bros.
Well, colour me surprised.
More than a decade after his first 3D adventure, Mario returns to his roots in side-scrolling, turtle-stomping, mushroom-getting action and it's a ride that will mark a whole new generation of gamers. From the simple intro to the classic finish, it's hard not to smile with this gem every step of the way.

Someone might say that Super Mario Bros. are outdated kiddies ... ...something special.

The slightest change is in the background graphics, where we have the standard fare 2-D environments, albeit in their most colourful version yet. At the forefront however, we have glorious 3-D that remains true to the traditional style yet also allows for a much greater range of motion and effects ...

Advantages: Great graphics and sound; classic gameplay holds up well; mini-games are a hoot. Disadvantages: Brief single player.
...games like Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros. and many other games.
-(The Story)-
The story is pretty similar to most Mario games, Princess Peach has been taken by Bowser Jr. and needs saving by the one and only Mario. It's just there and it's something to keep you going through the game.
-(The Controls)-
The controls are very responsive and take full advantage of the touch screen. Though the main story mode doesn't use the touch screen much, ... ...3D and has plenty of new tricks up it's red sleeve. You move along a 2D plane trying to get to this castle and change the flag while traveling through the world and saving Princess Peach. The basic levels have a lot of gaps that if you fall in will kill you in an instant as well as enemies which mostly consist of the kapoopa troopers. The game's difficulty is pretty easy, but it has those bouts of frustration, but that's probably just because unless ...

Advantages: very playable! Disadvantages: too playable...very addictive
...Bros' games for my brand new pink Nintendo DS. My first ever console and game was the old Gameboy with 'Super Mario Six Golden Coins' and I loved this game, however when my Gameboy broke I sold the game at a car boot sale….many times I have thought about the game and felt so annoyed that I cannot buy it. After about 5 minutes of playing this game I was hooked…partly because the game is so alike my old game. SCENARIO

The game starts ... ...it out Princess Peach is stolen by her evil captors and we see Mario rushing to rescue her. The Italian Plumber...rather used to pipes will have to explore the dizzy heights and darkest depths of the Mushroon Kingdom to save poor Princess Peach. I thought the small video introduction to the game was great, not only was it very exciting it set the scene clearly. PLAYABILITY

...screen. yep thats right the new Super Mario bros are stomping their way round on your Nintendo DS in their latest adventure to destroy Bowser and his minions. This new rendition is a return to the mushroom kingdom in an attempt to save the princess peach. This Mario game is also a return to the popular 2D side scrolling plat-former. Although their sre a lot of 3D elements in the game such as Mario himself the enemies and some scenery the game-play ... ...i have played lately.
New super Mario Bros has many new items and features, including the big mushroom which turns Mario into a giant growing to 10 times the size of normal Mario for a small period of time. Picking up a blue Koopa shell turns the plumber into Shell Mario. In this mode you can when you run you turn into a spinning shell which kills most of the enemies, but is hard to control as it's all over the place. Mario also has more moves at ...

Back To Basics Review ofNew Super Mario Bros (NDS)by

Advantages: Takes all the best parts from previous games Disadvantages: A bit too easy
...has gained a couple of new moves borrowed from the N64 instalment. In contrast to the SNES and other versions, he can now butt stomp, wall kick and triple jump his way across the sixty-or-so levels. Unfortunately, although fun, the triple jump is rarely put to use as you need plenty of room to pull it off, but the remaining two moves get used plenty throughout the game. Gone unfortunately is the flying cap and feather power up from previous games, ... ...the koopa shell and two new mushrooms. The shell gives Mario the ability to protect himself from various attacks and to slide about terribly fast like… some sort of spinning sliding thing. The other two mushrooms either make Mario extra tiny, or as large as the DS screen. Mini-Mario can sneak into places not normally accessible, whereas the gigantic counterpart gets about thirty seconds to wantonly destroy anything he barges his way through before ...
