Castle Leazes is the place to be - you can apply to one of three halls within the one main building, although there's no real difference between them. Most freshers live here, mainly because it's the handiest for town and uni, and there's no need to worry about food (it's not wonderful, but I've had worse). Floors/corridors are single sex, but this didn't prove to cause any problems

Just for interest:

Next door (well through a cow field) is Ricky Road (Richardson Road) which is more basic than Castle Leazes, and is based on
six people sharing a flat type set up. No meals, so cheaper. Less sociable.

The other halls are out of town, and are at least a 15-20 min bus journey to uni/town. This can get expensive.
