Being a camera 'dummy' who literally likes to point and snap, I finally decided to venture into the digital camera market last year fed up with the poor quality and out of focus pictures I was taking with my 10 year old 35mm camera.
I found a special offer on Ebay, 'Pentax 33LF - for under £100', I read the reviews, purchased and received my new camera a couple of days later.
Like a child with a new toy, I was taking pictures of everything and anything I could see. I was very impressed with the pictures that were being produced, the only trouble was the camera was costing me a fortune in batteries. The batteries that arrived with the camera lasted a very short time so I bought some brand new Ever Ready 'long-life' ones, these were not cheap but unfortunately went the same way and didn't last long.
I checked the Pentax user manual and they recommended rechargeable NiMH batteries. I had a battery charge already and in order to be able to financially continue my new pastime, I decided to invest in 4 New Hahnel NiMh 2350mAh AA Rechargeable Batteries. (NiMH - Nickel Metal Hydride)
Hahnel was not a name I was familiar with, so I did a little research - they are part of hähnel industries ltd. Who manufacture accessories for the camera and camcorder market. The company is one of the leading manufactures of power products for camcorder and digital cameras. They are known for their innovative products, and have been in business for over 44 years.
Sounded good to me, I went back on Ebay and found these reasonably priced at £6.59 for pack of four ('Buy Now' ). I sent off a cheque and batteries duly arrived a couple of days later.
The new Hahnel batteries were amazing, with other batteries after the camera has been switched on for a hort period of time, the battery indicator light showed that the batteries were draining, with the Hahnel batteries the lights remained at full charge for quite a time.
Only after my 5th or 6th session of continual use did I note that the battery indicator had started to move from full charge to half charge. At this point in time, I swapped the two batteries in the camera with the two additional batteries provided and re-charged the two partially discharge batteries.
After only a couple of hours, the re-charged batteries were fully charged up and were performing with the same blistering performance. I estimated that these batteries were outperforming the copper topped batteries by around 50% on each charge.
For those technical buffs amongst you here is the product information taken directly from the website.
Features Capacity 2350mAh, 1.25V Ni-MH. Exceptionally good volt stability. Under test conditions a voltage of over 1.2V was recorded for 70% of the discharging time. Blister pack with four rechargeable batteries. Included battery case for convenient storage of batteries. Batteries colour coded, preventing mixing of charged and discharged batteries.
All in all, I am very happy with this product, they have saved me a fortune in replacement batteries and after re-charge they perform 'as new'. Well worth the money and would thoroughly recommend.

A good idea to have considering the amount of batteries we use. Maureen

You don't give any purchasing details on where these can be bought from other than that you sent a cheque off. Is there a website or a postal address you can add to your review ? Can these not be bought in the shops or is it by mail order only ? Lexy
