first the boring stuff the active ingrediant in each tablet is nictotine in the form of a resin complex[nicotine polacrilex], because each lozenge contains15mg of sodium and the maximum dailey amount [15 lozenges]contain 225mgsodium they could be harmfull if you are on a low sodium diet. as well as being harmfull if you are pregnant, breast feeding,have a heart problem,liver or kidney disease,a stomach ulcer, if you are taking high blood pressure medication or asthma remedies you will need to have your medication adjusted so ALWAYS consult your doctor. there are some side effects from taking the lozengers and these include sorethroat,dizziness,mouth irritation,coughing,being sick,abnormal appetite to name but a few. less common side effects include restlessness,chest pains,nose bleeds ,thirst,if these effects get worse then stop using the lozengers.
i myself am one of the rare ones that gave up smoking without any help what so ever ,but sadly my husband was a totaly diffrent matter .he followed the program at first but felt that he was taking too many and was feeling dizzy so he cut down on his intake but now we have had temper tantrums ,threats to go back to the cigarettes ,days of not talking ...you name we,ve had it . at the moment he is trying for the 3RD time to get off of the lozengers .ITS A NIGHTMARE!!! he has been on and off of them for nearly a year the only good thing at has come of this is that he doesnt want a cigarette [even though he smoked 40 a day for 13 years]. only now he has terrible cravings for the lozengers ,we have been to the doctors and they suggested a diffrent niquitine substitute BUT everything else made him feel ill or gave him mouth ulcers.so its back to the lozengers AGAIN . he only buys the pack of 36 in the 2mg and they last him for 3 days,but they are more addictive than the cigarettes. i know they cant be as bad for him as cigarettes and we no-longer have to put up with the ashtray smell on his clothesand in the house but we sometimes wonder ARE THESE A GOOD THING??? even though they do help you to quit smoking i wouldnt recommend these to anybody as they are VERY addictive.
