Chew one piece of gum whenever you feel the need to smoke and use up to 12 pieces a day for three months.
Well that was easy I used on average 6 pieces a day during this stage and I can honestly say that it did kill the urge to smoke. Though during this stage you are at your weakest and you need to carry the gum around with you at all times, there were a few occasions when I snapped and popped into a shop and bought a pack ... more
Giving up smoking is hell and don't let a bunch of non-smokers tell you otherwise, my personal battle against Nicotine addiction has been going on for 6 years now. I have tried almost every form of Nicotine Replacement Therapy on the market all of them have plus and down points. The main down point being that nothing feels as good as a cigarette between your fingers, and it is at those points that I definitely do not need a lecture from a non-smoker. IN FACT one of the worst things about giving up smoking is NONSMOKERS, a bunch of self righteous whining good for nothings is what they are, and I am well on the way to joining them. Such thoughts are among the things than in my weaker moments makes me want to stick two fingers up at them and light up.
As of next year due to a bunch of whining nonsmokers there will be no smoking in pubs, an action that will result in loss of jobs and therefore livelihood of many barstaff. So here I go I am about to join the nonsmoking part of the population and no longer be a social leper, great whoop dee doo. However before you lot go slapping yourself on the back and saying good on you I have made a pact with myself if I reach 70 I am going to start smoking again, just to really annoy you lot ok, and I am not giving up the odd Cuban cigar either so there.
All righty then now that all that venom is cast out of my spleen I can get down to writing about these babies.

The instructions on the packet were easy to follow and it is broken down in the three stages (with added references to my own experience in using them):-
Step 1:- Initial Treatment Period
Chew one piece of gum whenever you feel the need to smoke and use up to 12 pieces a day for three months.
Well that was easy I used on average 6 pieces a day during this stage and I can honestly say that it did kill the urge to smoke. Though during this stage you are at your weakest and you need to carry the gum around with you at all times, there were a few occasions when I snapped and popped into a shop and bought a pack of Lucky strikes during this phase, but it is ok if you don't make a habit of it..................
Step 2:- Step Down Treatment period
Gradually reduce gum use to 1 to 2 pieces a day
Oh god this bit was hell as it meant weaning me off the gum. I was used to not smoking by now it was having to reduce my intake of gum. It took me 6 months to do this but not once did I crack and my body was gradually getting used to having less nicotine so by the time it came to step 3 I was almost there.......
Step 3:- Support period
Chew a piece of gum if sudden cravings tempt you to smoke
This is where I currently am and even after nearly a year on this gum there are still situations where I really need a F***ing cigarette, but popping a bit of gum into my mouth does the trick. I have not had a I want to kill everyone for a cigarette feeling for over a month now, and I only have 33 years to go before I rejoin the world of cigarettes.
Well there is not much more to add with these babies being added to my will power I did it the other things I should mention are:-
1. Do not chew these things like your life depended upon them as it burns like sodomy. A couple of chews and stick it next to your gum is all you need.
2. Side effects include burping and farting which is fantastic.
3. A packet of 24 pieces costs £4-99 and you can get it on prescription.
4. They taste rotten but you get used to it.
5. For blokes the following words will all ring true, Bigger, Harder, Longer, More OFTEN and with a shorter recovery time.
Now I am a non smoker I can happily report that I am not a smug sanctimonious humorless git, and can happily enjoy the company of both smokers and nonsmokers alike, and I have this gum to thank for that...........
...when he recommended the NiQuitin CQ Nicotine 4mg Mint Gum. The 4MG gum is recommended for smokers who light up within half an hour of waking. Half an hour of waking? That’s a joke! I didn’t even get out of bed to have a fag. The idea is you have the gum instead of a fag. But it still doesn’t take away the urge to put something to your mouth so your still urged to nibble on anything lying around. It is hard to describe the taste of the gum apart from ... ...Step Down Treatment period and the support period. I cannot comment on these as I couldn’t stand the gum so I couldn’t complete it! Just to let you know I did quit smoking in the end I went cold turkey and survived! I have been fag free for 6 months and I managed to get through it without killing anyone!! Yay go me! A pack of 24 will set you back about a fiver but they are also available on prescription but seeing as though prescriptions cost, £6.50 ...

Brilliant. Thats the only word to describe these gums. Without them I would still be a smoker.
While i was at school (14) I fell in with the wrong crowd and unfortunately the peer pressure led me to start smoking. I'm now 21 and happily a non smoker. My girlfriend bought me 10 boxes of the 4mg and 10 boxes of the 2mg for my 21st birthday and it's the best prezzie I have ever had.
The people who tend to find they dont work are the same people who ... ...top tips on using these gums.
- Week one.....Chew whenever you want to smoke.
- Week two and three......Try to chew just one every 2 hours or so.
- Week four onwards.....Switch to the 2mg chews and chew them only when you really have a craving. i.e when you say i wish i never gave up or you start imagining smoking. Gradually cut down on them and after 6 weeks try to not have any.
Note - You only need to do 4 chews and then lodge it between gum ...

I curently quit smoking a while ago, after trying many products i ended up relying on Nicotine patches, which worked for me. But before these i treid the gum. I did not like it at all, for me it didnt work and didnt stop my cravings and it also made me feel very sick when i chewed it, fair enough this will stop you smoking, but not in a comfortable way as anyone would want, for anyone wishing to quit i would advise to see if it works for you better ...
