Not on as much as I would like to be at the moment as work commitments call. Hopefully I will get back to full steam ahead soon.

I have been a smoker for 40 or so years managing to get through between 20 and 40 cigarettes a day. Whilst it is perfectly true that smoking has probably done irreparable harm to my health and cost me the price of a house in the country, it is equally true that I have enjoyed every single one and at times wished that I could smoke two at once. (The last statement will mean nothing to a non-smoker)
At Xmas (2000) I had like most of you, the flu like symptoms that the medical profession in their wisdom prefer to call “a virus” in reality it means that they haven’t got a clue but it seems like a good idea if you stop smoking.
I then decided to really go for it and see just how far I could get. Checking out the various aids from “nicorette” I decided to give the inhilator a trial run. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it is a plastic holder not unlike a fat ballpoint pen, containing a capsule of nicotine. It says in the instructions that the capsule is the equal of two cigarettes. The first “puff” on the inhilator, lets you know that they are telling the truth, and it really does give the impression of smoking.
I immediately found out the advantages of smoking this way, for example, how else can I “smoke” on a plane? In the cinema? In a restaurant? No more dirty looks every time I produce a packet of ciggys, just smiles and wishes of good luck. What a refreshing change.
As I said, I started at Xmas and am now 10 weeks towards being a non-smoker. The use of the inhilator has meant that I have truthfully never missed a single cigarette. This of course begs the question, why did I not stop smoking earlier if it was that easy? The answer is that I never realised just how easy it was and also the aids that we have now were not available. It may be that some of the other aids such as the patches will be better suited to others. The capsules used in the inhilator cost roughly £20 for 48 and can be purchased at just about any chemist in the country.
I have not and will not turn into a rabid anti-smoker, but I do try to give encouragement to those who are thinking about stopping. No-one says that it is easy, but if you give the inhilator a fair trial you will, after only a day or two, realise just what I mean.
The Inhilator is now on prescription from your doctor. So now there is absolutely no reason why you dont STOP SMOKING now.
Good Luck

I can confidently now say that after 10 months, I am once more a non-smoker. It has not been as hard as I thought it would be and I owe it all to the inhilator. This worked for me.....Give it a shot, and let me know how you get on.

Congrats! I started with the Inhalator today to cut down and it is working very well. Your op played a big part in me buying one and I like using it, it's comfortable and the case is good to play with! Incidentally, regarding the comment below, there are no toxins in this product!

My Dad turned to this in an attempt to give up his habit of smoking 10 Hamlet Cigars a day. He told me, like you said, that each cartridge is supposedly equivalent to 2 cigarettes, but he replaced his cartridge once every 2 days!! Bearing in mind he puffs on the inhalor all day (even more so when consuming alchohol)I can only assume that each cartridge is definatley more potent than 2 cigarettes!
I've tried the inhalor myself, and I have to agree that it does feel as though you are inhaling smoke. I must admit though, when I first tried it I made a crucial mistake. As you know, when a person smokes they draw in the smoke in 2 stages: sucking smoke into the mouth...then inhaling. I though this would also apply to the inhalor, which by the way gave me no satisfaction whatsoever! I later learned to suck the inhalor toxins straight down, which gave me the satisfaction I get from smoking a cigarette!
I now keep an inhalor in my desk drawer, for the odd time I forget to buy my smokes. I've had the same cartridge in it for months as I don't use it on a regular basis (unfortunately). Hope everything goes well for you and you kick the habit for GOOD, because it is so easy to pick another one up. I worked with a woman who said she had packed in smoking for 35 years, but she said not a day goes by without her thinking about having a relaxing puff on a cigarette!!
Also make sure you don't mistake your inhalor for something else or vice-vesa! My dad misplaced his inhalor, whilst sitting at my desk. He returned to the room asking if I had seen it. After searching around the room, I found what I thought was the inhalor and handed it to my Dad. A few moments later he returned to the room again to give me my girlfriends tampon applicator back!!!! LOL Great op :-D

Well done Robin - keep it up. I stopped 17 years ago (40+ a day man) with Nocorette gum (only form of Nicorette then). Mike
Advantages: Compact, discreet, case feels like a pack of fags, and it honestly works too Disadvantages: Inhaler too wide to hold between your fingers, doesn't taste of anything
