Im now 30 and still have gone back to smoking ...so give it ago ! At the grand age of 28 years ..I felt that it was time to give up smoking. I had actually had this thought for the past two years ..and have never been brave enough to do it ..It would be breaking an addiction that I had had since I was 15 and regretted.
So one week before my holiday, the last cigarette was smoked ..lighters abandoned and ashtrays stuffed under the sink, I thought I was ready.
I have to say that I think that I picked the best time..I had the holiday to focus on, and I strongly believe that you need something to look forward to.
I had bought from my local chemist a selection of gum at the 2mg strength. I smokED 20 a day of low tar, and the lower strength was better for me.
I don’t have particular have strong teeth and have to say that the gum was hard, and once you had chewed for a few minutes I found that you had this boost of nicotine, that catches in the back if your throat, and therefore when I had a piece of gum, I needed something to drink. I had bought both the citrus and the mint …I found the citrus to catch in my throat more so that the vague taste of mint.
I did find a better brand of gum, but that’s for another op…
Nicorette gum is available in Citrus and Mint in both 2mg and 4 mg and in different sizes 24 pieces is aprox £5.77 2mg 96 pieces aprox £19.00
I have used the gum for a successful for 6 weeks, the first few days were only difficult, because you don’t know what to do with your hands….and I now feel that I could make it. I don’t use more that 6/8 pieces a day ,I tend to take a piece of gum when it seems most natural after meals ..when in the car..when something stressful happens..the gum takes away the need for a cigarette
I feel generally more in control, as though cigarettes aren’t dictating my life..and I cant express how that feels…

Crikey, you are even making me look forward to it now - I have even booked a holiday on the basis of what I save from not buying cigarettes I can use to pay off the balance - so another incentive.

This sounds like something I should start using, but I think in order for it to work for me...I need to be ready to quit...and I'm not yet! VH opinion...I will keep this in mind
