My husband was the smoker and had been smoking up till just over a year ago. My husband had been smoking since the age of 12 and seemed like he was smoking 40 a day but he only took a few puffs of the cigarette and put it out and about 5 minutes later would light up another cigarette. My husband just decided to throw his tobacco in the bin and said that today was the day.

Anyway back to the subject of the nicorette gum my husband has been on these for just over a year and first he got them on the nhs and then he started buying them which are £5.69 for 30 pieces at the 2mg low strength and at that price every couple of days (as my husband gets them every couple of days) it does get quite expensive and he is finding it hard to quit because he still feels he needs the nicotine after a year and is finding it hard not to have the nicotine. You can get 105 pieces for roughly about £15.99 and you can get these in the 4mg aswell.
When you start to give up smoking you are better starting off with the 4mg and stay on them for 3 months and then go down th the 2mg for another 3 months. This was the way the nurse told my husband but he is still on the gum.

These gums are a really good start to help you quit smoking but are quite expensive. You can get the nicotine gums in 4mg and 2mg and you can get them in freshmint, mint, original and there are another packet of gums in the supermarket (Morrisons and Sainsburys) where the flavours are liqorice and fruit.

These nicotine gums will help you come off the cigarettes but be prepared to pay £5.69 for them.

These have been a real help to my husband and if there are smokers who are thinking about giving up consider using the nicotine gums.

I keep these in my handbag for 'emergency stress standby moments' ! I used the patches to give up, but these are good as boosters. You are right that they are expensive though, and still the nicotine is addictive. Hel
