It tells the tale of the monkeys when they get woken up at the wrong time of the day and their lack of understanding in what they see around them, i.e. night monkey isn\'t used to seeing shadows or the bright parrots in the tree, whereas day monkey isn\'t used to seeing the banana (moon) in the sky.

I think this extremely captivating and enchanting book is currently very cheap at amazon (£2 ish) and if you\'re buying other items... I\'d recommend that you purchase this as well. The story isn\'t too long, or too short (it\'s just right - maybe a 3 or 4 min read). Your baby or toddler and (more importantly) you will most likely love it! After just under a year, I\'m still not tired of it.

In this house we are big fans of the children's author JuliaDonaldson, particularly because of her Gruffalo books. Because of this, I am always on the look out for books by her, and the latest one we have read is NightMonkey, DayMonkey. I really got the book for my four year old as it is quite short with a lot of repetitive language, but I have to say that my older daughter who is getting on for six enjoys it just as much as her younger sister.
As the title suggests, the story is about two monkeys - one who sleeps in the day and is awake at night, and the other does the opposite, sleeping at night and being awake in the day. They both sleep in the same tree though which does lead to the occasional meeting between the two.
At the start of the story it is dark and NightMonkey is awake. She decides to visit DayMonkey and wake him up ...
Advantages: Great fun Disadvantages: Need a group of children

Personally, I love the combination of Axel's illustrations and Julia's words- their is such humour and creativity in all of the books.
(NB The ratings i was asked for were for an audio book, but this is a book- i had to answer them but theyre not all relevant. Overall, i really recommend this book.) ...
