museum - the Smithsonian Institution. Museum guard-turned entrepreneur Larry Daly discovers that his favorite exhibits, and some of his best friends, from New York's Natural History Museum are being shipped off to the archives at the Smithsonian. Larry gets a distress call from the miniature cowboy, Jedediah, reporting that Egyptian ruler Kahmunrah and a trio of heinous henchmen - namely Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon and Al Capone - are plotting to take over the museum, then the world. Speeding to the nation's capitol, Larry is clearly in over his head. a sequel to this, I believe it is called Night at the Museum2: Battle of the Smithsonian, and is due to be released in mid to end of 2009, I just hope it is as good as the first?? ...

My children and I went to see this sequel last night and I have to say that I was quite impressed. I never expect much from sequels, but this surprised me and I felt still had a quality script and excellent acting.
What?s it all about?
Well, whilst you could watch this film as a standalone film, it would be better if you watched the first film or at least got a synopsis, so that you can understand where Larry the main character is coming from.
Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is a single parent, who always dreamed of being an inventor, finally got his wish and so left his job at The Natural History Museum in New York as a night guard to pursue growing his successful household gadget business. I don?t think is a plot spoiler to point out that at night the exhibits of the museum come to life ...
of blink and miss it. If there hadn?t been the original this might have been alright. As it is, there?s a real sense of déja vu, and when the plot gets to the point where Ben Stiller manages to slow time to a crawl so that everything can get back to the museum, you wonder whether he hasn?t already cast that spell into the cinema.
I know it?s only a short review, but the only reason for seeing this is if you?ve seen the first one, and if you have you?ll know exactly what to expect. I mean ? exactly.
My rating: 2/10 but anyone under the age of 6 would probably still love it.
