...at the same time. Yes, the Athlons are slightly faster in benchmark tests; yes, there are now 2 gig Pentiums in PC World. But there is a massive cost differential....my Durons cost just under £40 each, yet a comparable Athlon Thunderbird chip is currently twice that, as is an Intel Celeron, and the Pentium 3 and 4s are three or even four times that. If you are putting together a cheap and cheeful PC system, you can save money with no loss of performance by selecting a Duron over a Celeron. I certainly haven't noticed any difference in PC performance in Office XP using my Duron over the Pentium 3s at work. And if you want to be a contender in the numbers game, buy a Duron 1 Ghz processor. It'll be superceded in the press by other CPUs, but you won't notice the difference, and you'll be £50 or so better off to put towards that decent graphics card... Read review

...The AMD Duron is a very good alternative to the more expensive Pentium 4 and Athlon processors. Line-moderately the Duron core is based on that of the Athlon and brings therefore also Anna-honouring just as good achievement (closer information see bench mark). For fast plays with complex diagram I would recommend this processor. I have mean AMD tested computers with some running plays, which ran all very good and made no problems. Generally I am with my Duron 1.2 Ghz. Very contently. He falls hardly off and mostly only if any program not reliably runs and an error has. The AMD Duron 1.2 Ghz. runs with a Frontside bus from 2x100 MHz. This processor is meant for all Main boards, which possess a A-base. The Motherboard operates the processor with a tension of approximately 3.3 V. The price for this processor is to be decided a second good... Read review
