''Oh my god'', thats the first words that came out of my mouth when I entered Nike Town in New York City. The wow factor certainly hit me on entering the shop. With Nike probable being the biggest and most recognisable sports brand in the world, its clear to see why they leave their competitors like Adidas and Reebox behind in the race to be number one in the world of sport. Their advertising campaigns are nothing short of fantastic and they offer products for practically any sport in the world.
The Nike Town building itself fits in perfectly with the skyscrapers that surrounded it and is located on 6 E and 57th street, not far from Central Park. The Shop is not like any other sports shop i've seen in my life. It is huge. With about 7 or 8 levels (compared to just 3 at Nike Town in London), all accessible via lifts or escalators, it was just over-whelming. There were plenty of staff on hand to help get around, but I advise you to just go it alone. Every floor is different, from American Football to Soccer (English Football) and Basketball to Athletics. The different catagories and range of products with-in them catergories was just amazing. Every Floor was fully staffed and any questions that I had were answered immediately. Nike as a company are not cheap, the quality of the clothes is much higher than other brands so you must expect to pay more. With the Nike Town I visited being in America, it was a little cheaper than the uk, but still expensive. I wear alot of Nike sports wear as I play alot of football and other sports, and although more expensive than other brands, totally worth it as a lot higher quality.
I most certainly recommend Nike Town to anybody visiting New York. Take a look inside, you'll be as impressed and over-whelmed as I was.
