Car was bought mainly for its realistic appearance. The car has eye-pleasing details such as smoke tinted windows, chrome bumpers, chrome
wheels, separate chromed door handles, clear headlights and red-tinted taillights (although not lighted, could be modified with a separate battery source, miniature bulbs and on/off switch). Even though the body is described as "crash resistant", and is so far resistant to minor mishaps, it could use a heavier black crash bumper that is often found on similar RC cars. As it is, the nicely executed chrome bumpers will suffer damage with enthusiastic driving or from youngsters. The looks of the car would suffer from such an addition anyway. i tried the drifting tires or "slicks" with mixed results. The car can be made to drift or slide on low pile carpet or smooth vinyl floors but the effect is hard to master. The car easily performs donuts on carpet though and this and "spinouts" are quite fun to do. When I unboxed the car I noticed the body had no receiver antenna poking up. On closer inspection the antenna is located under the body. This is a nice feature protecting both the antenna from damage and the user from getting poked in the eye from typical wire antennas.
The car is quite good for the money but reflects its price in that it isn't blindingly fast and has no proportional speed or steering. Turns are either full left or full right and throttle or forward/reverse motion is either OFF or FULL POWER. The drifting tires come with an included wheel wrench that is necessary to remove and install the tires. It is easy to remove the tires with the wrench but difficult to turn the hubcaps to the locked position. I actually damaged one of my wheels' locking tabs by applying too much force when locking the hubcap/wheel on. I wish Nikko had made this feature easier.
