Advantages: sporty, eye-catching appearance Disadvantages: rotary engine - unlike most other sports cars
I had to babysit one an RX7 for a friend of mine while he was out of town. Knowing my liking for street racing, he gave me consent to use it anyway, while I got the customising done for him.
When this car was first made, I believe it was aimed for the businessman who wanted something to drive that was a little "cooler" than everyone else, with a little "kick" and style - well, Mazda achieved that in this car. However, because of the discontinuation of this model and the introduction of the RX8, this car has been relegated to and is being sought after by street racers, who just find it to be a very good mergeance of style and power.
However, I must admit that I am a fan of Nissan (300ZX, 350Z, 200SX, Skyline) and Mitsubishi (every model of the Lancer Evolution, Eclipse and the 3000GT), and rotary engines are new to me. By ...

Advantages: Supercar Performance Ford Focus Money Disadvantages: It'll cost a Ford Focus a year to run it
quite a few of these imports on the market with similar mileage but my advise is to stay well clear but don't let me change your mind with my bad experience these cars are a design classic and the most rewarding drive you will get for this sort of money not to mention the fastest thing this side of a lamborgini. If you can find 1 with a blown engine and there are a few out there you can expect to pay around 2k for 1 but then have a phone round the rx-7 specalists and this where it all starts to make sense you can get a new rotor housing "engine" for around 2-3k this will include a 2-3 year warranty which is the deal maker for me for aronud 5000 pounds you will have a car with a brand new warranty'd engine everything else on the car from the gearbox, running gear right down to the electronics is built in true mazda fashion made to last ...

Advantages: Supercar Speeds. Exotic Looks. Very Driver Focused. Disadvantages: Group 20 Insurance. Small rear seats. Regular 3kmile Services Needed.
also a good example of a drift car. In fact this car is very easy to drift and also easy to correct while mid-drift. As quoted by 'Tsuchiya' the Drift King of Japan (who did the stunts for the film Fast & The Furious Tokyo Drift) "High standard, also very easy to control, most outstanding and the racers will enjoy the RX7 most."
What Mazda ended up with is the most lightweight car out of its competitors at the time which made it the best handling high power sports car for 1992-2001.
Forget the newer RX8 - it is a weak attempt at recapturing the target market from the RX7 pedigree where the RX8 fails badly.
Often described as the sexiest car from Japan - RX7s between 92-01 are ALL twin turbo 1300cc engines.
280bhp with a very quick 0-60 of 5 seconds (for my standard Type-R2 but others are pretty much the same).
You can only get single ...
