Advantages: Very spacious, great family car with Air Con as standard! Disadvantages: Electrical problems, plasticky finish and high biting point on the clutch
I bought this car second hand. It was a year old with only 8500 miles on the clock when I purchased it.
The reason for going for the 307 was really based on space and ease of driving. The 307 gives great headroom and storage space - we can easily fit in a pushchair, travel cot, 2 suitcases and all sorts of other stuf in the boot while still being able to see out the back. Also, the standard features, suc as Air Con are a great bonus.
My wife is only 5'2" and can find problems with visibility with some vehicles. However, with the 307, they have built in extra windows near the wing mirrors which, when combined with the ability to move the driver seat anywhere you want it, virtually eliminates this problem.
I do have a couple of bug-bears though:
1. Electrics - this has been well documented. We have had the internal fans ...
Advantages: great looks, fuel economy and performance Disadvantages: had lots of problems especially with the electrics
I had this car from new but did not buy it myself as it was a company car and rented from Peugeot. It was a 52 (October 2002) registration and I had it the full 3 years of the lease and I was the main driver with my partner driving it occasionally. This review is based on the fact that I did 20,000 plus miles a year and quite a bit of motorway driving.
The car was:
5 door hatchback
90bhp
1997cc
4 cylinders
8 valves
Insurance group 6
Road tax band C
Manual transmission
I'll start with the good bits about it. ! I loved it's looks and colour - aegean blue. It was roomy and comfortable and the performance was superb as far as I'm concerned. It's supposed to do 111mph but I doubt it would but it would happily go along at 90mph - which, of course, I never tried! Very few similar spec cars used to pass it on the motorway ...
Advantages: Quiet, responsive and powerful Disadvantages: poor build quality
I've just purchased my 2nd Peugeot307 HDi, it's a D Turbo with the 110BHP engine. My last one had the HDi 90 engine. The engines are great, responsive and powerful. I recommend the 110 over the 90, it's quieter and has alot more power, however the cars haven't been without problems. My first one had to have new engine mounts fitted at 6000 miles, and I used to get an occasional clunking noise from underneath the front passenger side, this has started happening on the new one also, it's going in next week to be looked at, also the horn doesn't seem to want to work. On the first one I had the common problem of the indicators cancelling too soon, but this hasn't been a problem on the 2nd car. I've read alot of reviews where people have said that the electrics seem to fail for a second, then return, this happened once on my old car and when ...
