Advantages: Brilliant quality, easy to set up and go, records to HDD, quick transfer from HDD and great func Disadvantages: terrible software, poor battery life, has Canon's own HD resolution/not true HD
the video footage. The HG-10 comes complete with a Canon F1.8 lense with x10 zoom and a CMOS sensor which can confuse the user with regard to true HD. (Look it up more and compare it to JVC). It has a brilliant digital image stabilizing system as well as functions to use under different lighting. Not only that but the HG-10 comes equipped with it's own light and remote control.
What is probably the best feature with regards to the video is the fact it records direct HD to the 40gb hard drive which gives approximately 15 minutes of full AVCHD which is the camera's native HD format for Canon. However, that is the greatest weakness of the footage because the footage is not recognised by the most popular editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final cut or Avid. Even the software for converting it was extremely slow and poor.

Advantages: light, exellent quality recordings Disadvantages: expensive, not much battery life
good sound quality just as it was in real life.
It is lightweight and comes with a carry case so is easy to take anywhere with you so ideal for taking on holidays. The HG10 is also a digital camera 3.1MP photos are saved to Mini SD card.
It has the following features
*HD video straight to HDD (AVCHD)

Advantages: Quality Pictures, Easy to use, Compact Disadvantages: Price but still worth it for a decent camera
the Nikon D40x it had everything we wanted including a sport mode which was the main feature I wanted, as border collies don't keep still for very long!
Me knowing absolutely nothing about digital SLR cameras was just happy to have a cool new camera get it home and try it out.
** The Nikon D40x Features **
*Auto-Focus
Just like the previous model (D40) this camera has an auto focus feature all though it does not have a built in focus drive motor, so only works with lenses that have their own built in drive motor, suitable lenses for this feature are AF-S and AF-I lenses.
The auto focus is brilliant for fast moving dogs and cars and anything else that moves so you can get pictures quickly, features of the auto focus include?
Three area TTL phase detection, Nikon Multi-CAM530 auto focus module
Detection range: EV -1 to +19
*10 ...
