I bought this camera from DIXONS in OCT 02, in the sale for £159.99. Considering the best price on the .net is still £149.99 now, I think this is proof that this camera is a quality all rounder.
The camera has a max resolution of 2.1 megapixels, I have upgraded the CF card to a 64MB version that cost me an extra £20.00 and I can store 68 MAX RESOLUTION images on board. Picture quality is top notch and to be honest I have not even thought of upgrading to a 3 megpixels or more camera becasue for my uses (mainly family photos up to 5inch by 7inch) the images taken are crystal clear.
The menus and control on this camera are all easy to use, intuitive and the unit feels solid and expensive. One gripe is that it is quite difficult to turn off all the automatic exposure options and settings so it can be fiddly to set up for the exact picture you want to take. However the fact that the lens can swivel to face you for self portraits easily makes up for this.
The menus can control every sort of setting for the camera and it comes with built in settings for different locations such as BEACH SHOT or LANDSCAPE or PORTRAIT and they all seem to work well in those situations. The redeye reducing flash does not seem to work very well though (do any of them???)
The video mode is not extremely useful as no matter what size CF card you are using you can only record 15secs of video and it automativally stops shooting. The quality of the images in video mode is also poor (640 x 480).
Battery life seems good, with one charge lasting nearly a week being used regularly on holiday. The camera comes with a mains charger, a carry pouch and strap and all the cables and software to connect it to your PC. Synchronisation with you home computer is easy (I have only used it with Windows XP), simply plug in your camera to the USB cable supplied and once the software is installed you can view save or edit the pictures till your hearts content.
Using a Canon i350 printer to make prints of the pics delivers impressive results and I can honestly say having a digital camera does revolutionise the way you take pictures in your life. I tend to carry my camera nearly everywhere I go now in case I spot something memorable.
All in all, I am extremely happy with this camera and would recomend it to friends.
