I've never been big on photography. That's probably because I don't really have much to take pictures of. I don't travel, I go on holiday obviously, but you'll find me on a snowboard or in the sea rather than sightseeing. So when I've had cameras before, I tend to go a little snap happy in the first couple of weeks, then it goes in a case on a shelf and that's the end of that. I'm also notoriously lazy, so on the rare occasion I do manage to fill a film, I can't be bothered to get it developed. So my mother, in her infinite wisdom, thought it would be a good idea to buy me a camera. This time ... more

This is my first serious digital camera. I had a very cheap one I used for eBay but it was no good for anything else. It is not meant to be a be all and end all review I am just pointing out its best bits. I had a few requirements At least a 3 x optical zoom –digital zoom not important as I don’t intend to use it At least 3 mega pixels – it didn’t want it to become obsolete too quickly Compact - no bigger than the palm of my hand Not too heavy – my bag is heavy enough already Able to use AA rechargeable batteries – I already owned lots and a recharger so this would cut my costs. Reasonable ... more

I like digital cameras, I've had a few in my time, but I'd stuck with a 0.8 megapixel Ricoh for a long time. It doesn't sound like much from the spec, but it actually takes good quality pictures, has a lot of storage capacity, a good zoom, and a good macro function, plus it could record sound. I didn't really want much more. I saw the Nixon Coolpix 3200 on sale in Jessops for about 125 pounds and figured it might be worth a shot - I'm thinking of going away early next year and figured it might be a good occasion to try out a new camera. This model is a 3.2 effective megapixel one - effective ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, clear, sharp pictures, small compact shape

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not quite as good at night or to capture high speed moments

Nikon Coolpix 3200 was my first experience with owning a digital camera, and it has to be said that it made the transition from manual to digital so delightful that I'd never look back! For a start, the camera is a small, compact, yet sturdy shape with a contoured shape to fit your hand well. It's also easy to store in a pocket or handbag, which means you'll always have it handy to capture a special moment. The camera takes two AA batteries and the battery life is good. The LCD display at the back is big enough to allow you to eliminate obviously bad shots, but is not big enough to spot ... more

WHY GO DIGITAL Well I love taking photo's but found the cost getting a bit expensive with buying film and having them developed too, so when my last camera broke down I decided to go digital. . I looked into a lot of different options and finally came up with the Nikon Coolpix 3200. It is a nice compact camera which measures 8.8cm wide, 6.5cm high and 3.8cm deep and weighs aprox 150g without the battery, so quite handy for slipping into your handbag. The camera has 3.2 Megapixels (3200 pixels), which produce high quality photos, it also has a 35mm lens three movie settings, TV format (640) ... more
