I was very happy with the Hewlett-Packard 2.1 digital camera which I had for several years. It was very easy to use, and took pictures which were acceptable in photo quality, though not outstanding.

However, I took early retirement from education last year, and began to work in real estate as a part-time endevour. When I got my first listing I realized that my trusty H-P would be no good for taking pictures of the interiors of homes, so I started shopping.

I went to several photography shops, as well as discounters, and was surprised that there weren't very many digital cameras in my price range which were adaptable to wide-angle lenses. But the Nikon 4300 was, and it happened to be on a special sale from the factory - so I bought it directly from Nikon. There was a shortage of the wide-angle lenses, so it took a few weeks to track one down, but I did find one. The price I paid for the camera AND lens was somewhat less than the quoted price here for the camera alone.

I was pleasantly surprised that the camera was very easy to use, and amazed at the overall quality of the pictures. The quality, in fact. seems much better than that of pictures taken by my old Pentax SLR. which was expensive and complicated to use. In addition, the availability pf extra lenses makes this camera quite a bit more versatile than other similar models.

There are several modes for shootong, such as a scene mode and automatic. The camera adapts quite well to available light, and I'm surprised at how infreqently it uses the built-in flash. As mentioned in another review of this camera, the on-off switch feels flimsy - especially in a camera this expensive.

But the reason I bought the camera was for my business, and it is doing very nicely in its role. Now, the relatively tiny kitchens in 2 condominiums I listed were easy to see in the MLS listings online. Rooms could be seen in detail, so that a home buyer could get a good look at the home without even leaving the realtor's office. Both condos sold within a week, at over-asking price! So I feel the camera was well worth the purchase price.

Now, for a couple of gripes. I was able to find a (free) course offered by a retailer which showed how to operate the camera. And I realized then that the possibilities with this camera are just about unlimited. But the darn thing is NOT easy to operate, with all the options of varying the shots. I am not very pleased with the instructions, as they so not explain things very well. I wish manufacturers would make a good camera which doesn't require a dregree in photography to operate!
