I got this camera for my birthday (and as my mum got me it from the USA I don't know how much it cost but think it's around £150 in the UK) and had great fun trying it out whilst away. There are lots of different scene modes you can pick and I got some great night time shots and sunsets.
The camera is lightweight and easy to carry around and the quality of the pictures is excellent. The zoom is good (3 x optial zoom) and I have taken a variety of shots in different conditions, all of which have come out brilliantly. The different modes include:
Party / indoor (self explanatory) Beach / Snow (for very bright conditions) Sunset (self explanatory) Dusk / Dawn (self explanatory) Night landscape (self explanatory) Close Up (self explanatory) Museum (for indoors without flash) Fireworks show (really good at capturing fireworks due to slower shutter speed) Copy (for photographing text clearly) Back light (compensates for subjects with the light behind them) Panorama Assist (self explanatory) Underwater
There's also a movie mode and in-built red-eye fix.
This camera is great value for money and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality digital camera - this is good for beginners as well as more advanced users.
The only frustration I have is that after taking a photo there's a delay before the next photo can be taken. I would also recommend you buy a bigger memory card than the one supplied - i have a 512mb card that does the trick.
The camera also takes AA batteries which is great as these are readily available in most places if the batteries suddenly die on you.

Advantages: easy to use, small so easy to hold, fantastic pictures and great zoom, great to hook up to the tv to view pictures Disadvantages: battery life is not very long and no warning it is running out, hard to see picture on a bright day
