Advantages: Great daylight pics possible. Looks nice. Disadvantages: Slow setup time. Flash rubbish. Menus not user friendly.

The Coolpix 7600 looks the part, and feels reasuringly solidly built. It comes with a thick wodge of user manuals and registration documents.
Sadly, despite really wanting to like this camera ... ...very difficult to get the best from, mainly because shortcomings with the built in software and flash make it diificult (but not impossible) to get decent results.
In almost every situation I encountered, if you let the camera setup the shot, there will be a delay of at least 3-4 seconds before the shot is taken. This can be worse in low light, and especially in "Party" mode.

Sadly, despite really wanting to like this camera (it was bought as a gift), it is has proved very difficult to get the best from, mainly because shortcomings with the built in software and flash make it diificult (but not impossible) to get decent results.

Standard outdoor Outdoors in bright daylight, at high resolution with static/slow moving subjects produced the best results. This allowed the best features of the camera to shine through. Really very impressive focus, detail and colour balance.
The camera offers a huge variety of resolution settings, and a sub-menu of simple "modes", which are supposed to be easy to use pre setup profiles for using the camera in typical situations . It is very difficult in practice for novice "snappers" to select the most appropriate one.
The ones that have used I guess are typical:
Close Up This worked very well. The only problem with this was getting the camera to stay still enough, but there is a hole for a stand.
Party Supposedly for indoor use at parties. Of course Nikon's parties may be floodlit, but the ones I've been to are all pretty low lit affairs. This was a totally useless mode, and it was almost impossible to get a decent picture, unless your subjects can remain motionless for about 60 seconds. The totally crummy inbuilt flash doesn't help here, and there isn't a way to add an external flash unit to compensate.
Sport Pretty good in most (outdoor) conditions. Seemed to be optimised for fast moving subjects.
Other I didn't really use any of the other special modes
Movie Mode This works pretty well, and though no where near as good as a dedicated digital, it has proved the best feature of the camera. With a 256 MB SD card, you have about 20 mins of recording time.
Summary Though seemingly designed as an easy to use compact "point-and-shoot" this is not a camera for novice users. Used carefully and with forethought, it can produce excellent results. But if you want an easy to use digital compact for those spontaneous special moments - look elsewhere.
Advantages: Various settings including landscape and portrait, long battery life, video mode Disadvantages: The video recording quality isn't perfect
I have owned this camera for over a year now and I am always amazed by the quality of the pictures that this camera can take!
There are numerous options to choose from to ensure the picture taken is at the best possible quality this camera can give.
I recently took it to a music gig and the photographs taken with this camera of the lighting effects came out brilliantly.
The video facility on the camera can be quite fuzzy but the quality can be ...

Advantages: Small and compact Disadvantages: Comes with a small memory card
I think that this camera is great and have even recommended that my parents get one. the one that i got was the black version which looks even better that the silver one as shown i0n the picture above. however im a little more worried about scratching it as it may show up more, but thats just normal wear and tear.
The pictures come out amazing and to top it off the price i think was reasonable considering that this is a 7 MP camera and has not been ... ...by about £20 depending on where you go but a little shopping around will soon sort this problem out.
The menus are very simple to use so hopefully even my parents will be able to use it!! It has god a large LCD display on the back of the camera so easy to see the great pictures that you are shooting. The camera is a little slow when using the stardard memory card between pictures, but upgrade the memory card to a 1gb Ultra II fast memory card all ...

Advantages: Excellent optical zoom with such a small sized camera. Disadvantages: Sometimes on close ups the zoom gets in the way creating unwanted shadows.
I received this camera for christmas '05. Having little previous knowledge on cameras I relied on recommendations.
I myself do recommend this camera. Aesthetically it is beautiful, the camera is small enough to fit discreetly into a bag with lovely silver features.
I am a Landscape Architect so the many different categories for photography are useful, although as stated in my cons when doing very close up photographs I have to ensure the shadow ...
