A good all-round camera once you have 'found your way round' the controls/settings.
The dire warnings about only using Coolpix batteries etc seems a bit over-the-top and since Coolpix batteries are not readily available everywhere, make the camera less attractive to the amateur [if the 'dire warnings are heeded about using non-Coolpix products. No camera retailer I have spoken to seems to know WHY this restraint is necessary and most advise ignorng it as a sales gimmick! If it isn't may I suggest Nikon explain why their batteries and chargers are so special - to weasle out of guarantee obligations!?
If their warnings are really relevant then I would buy the equivalent Canon where you can use any rechargeable or non- rechargeable batteries of the correct voltage.
We used Kodak batteries with no ill effect - and cheaper and readily available worldwide. Rated accordingly - could have been 5
