...fan of Nikon, but this Nikon L3 really disappointed me.
I still have a professional, traditional, film Nikon camera and the pictures are just great. I had then a Nikon Coolpix 2100 as a point-and-shoot digital camera and it was absolutely fine. Then in October last year I decided to upgrade the Coolpix 2100 to something better. I thought 5 million pixels would be enough, so I bought a Nikon Coolpix L3, the new generation of Coolpix. Big mistake…
... ...that it was not a Nikon this time. I just lost faith in them. I bought myself a Fuji and is just brilliant, it just shows the Nikon L3 how pathetic its performance is
I actually wrote to Nikon UK (as a coincidence, I live 200 yards from their UK headquarters…) explaining them how bad this camera is. They never replied to me, but now, the L3 is not actually available on their website in the list of products (L4 and L2 are, but they withdraw the L3)

...limited, so I bought a Nikon L3.
Although the L3 boasts 5 megapixels I didn't have great expectations of the results, due to the relatively short zoom lens and small size of the camera. The L3 uses SD digital media cards, which are available in different speeds and capacities. I bought a 1Gb Ultra 2 card, which could be considered mid range. The camera announced that this card would accommodate nearly 800 full resolution photos. It's fair to say ... ...image, even using the Ultra 2 card. I didn't find this to be a problem, as I wasn't shooting continuous sequences. If you see this lag as being a problem to you, an Ultra 3 SD card will reduce it, as the write speed is considerably faster. There is of course a price premium for the faster cards.
Opening the box, I found the instruction book, which is well worth a read. Also all the necessary leads to connect the camera to a pc, together with the ...

I bought this camera as my first camera and have had it for the best part of a year and a half now. Overall i think it is a great starting camera and good value for money. Its 5 megapixel camera makes it decent for shooting pictures of friends or family whether at home or out. If you are looking for extreme quality pictures and considering sum serious photography then it probably isnt for you but if you just want to capture some memories then its ... ...you go whether in your bag or pocket, although i would recommend getting a case for it as if it knocks about in your pocket then it can turn itself on which'll waste battery life and could well damage the telescopic lens. A problem i did have with it is that it can sometimes be pretty tricky to get a good focus if the you dont hold it still enough so instant quick shots might not be as decent. Also, when you click to take a picture there is a delay ...

Those cameras i have mentioned above are own by my uncles and aunts who they ask my help (i'm proud to be their computer/digital consultant!) on how to use theirs! One of the most outstanding feature of my camera is the power-saving (not a battery consuming monster!) and its compactness (it's so small you can put it in your pocket!).
Also the photos are great! ... ...know which mode is best on a particular setting. Another weakness is the shutter lag, you can't take photo after photo. You need to wait for some secs (but you're running out of time because your subject had changed angle).
But for over-all, I love my Nikon Coolpix L3! ...
