- Overview -
After I found that I had a passion for taking pictures, the camera on my phone was not going to suit me for much longer, and I decided it was time that I brought a better camera. After looking around on the Internet, I finally decided that I was going to give this camera a try, because of the new features it seemed to have, and plus because the design really attracted me to it. The camera itself was £180, something that hurt the bank bad, but was a worthwhile investment I found out, after I got the camera. The camera was easy to get going, all it needed was a little fiddling with the settings, and I had it set to the best settings for taking photos that I wanted. The camera even came with its own photo editing software, which I found very easy to use, and was a great help.
Once I started taking pictures with this camera, I found its many different features to be very handy. The camera body incorporates a swivel design for the lens, which allowed me to take photos from dynamic angles, such as holding the camera overhead to capture action over the crowd or composing from down low to get a different perspective. This was something I found great for taking my style of pictures with, and something that I use again and again. The camera also offered increase light difference, which made it easier to take pictures in the dark, as it took in more light, which was something that helped me out greatly when taking pictures.
The general feel of the camera is really impressive. The modern design really adds to the appeal of it, and the twistable lens is a god sent, and also makes the camera appear very fashionable. The camera is certainly something I carry around with me all the time, because of the way it looks and also because it grants me the ability to take amazing photos when ever it is needed. As I carry the camera around with me a lot, I have found that it also tends to get bumped a lot. However, the camera seems to hold its self together remarkably well, and it only has one small scratch on its body, and I've had it for about a month.
- Quality -
The qualities of the pictures and camera have yet to let me down. Again and again they have come up trumps, allowing me to take amazing pictures, with the click of a button, and a built in feature in the camera that stops vibrations makes the pictures seem very smooth. The pictures are smooth and crisp, which is all I could really ask for in a camera.
- Complaints/Conclusion -
There are hardly any complaints I can give this camera. At the end of the day, this camera does everything that is needed from it, and delivers it in trumps. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is interested in taking good quality photos, then this camera is the one for you, because of the range of features that it has. Along with the standard camera, you also get software that allows you to edit your photos to something that is truly amazing. This camera is certainly worth the high price, although, if you were on a budget, I would possibly recommend a cheaper camera.
Advantages: 10x optical zoom; lens can rotate 270 degrees Disadvantages: None really...except that it lacks a "fully manual" mode.
There are two things I absolutely love about this camera: # It has a 10x zoom lens built into such a small housing # The lens can rotate a full 270 degrees - so you can actually capture self-portraits without anyone's help. The camera size is about that of an average casual camera but it packs in several powerful features; such as the 10x optical zoom, vibration reduction and panorama modes. But as I mentioned above, I guess the best feature is the ... ...incredible shots such as high above a crowd (if you rotate the lens 180 degrees to the bottom and hold it above your head). It also has several modes built-in to assist the semi-casual-but-moving-on-to-pro user such as various sport modes, night modes, indoor, snow, etc. which all take on some pre-adjusted shutter speeds and aperture controls. The only drawback I've seen is that it doesn't have a fully manual mode...but this isn't exactly a pro-camera; ...

Advantages: Compact, easy to use Disadvantages: High battery usage, no viewfinder
I've used one of these digital cameras for over 6 months now, and I really can't fault it so far. It has a good range of presets to help with things like photos of moving images, night portraits and pictures of text (ideal for some of my auction entries!!). The macro setting is great for close-ups of flowers, insects etc and produces almost professional results. I'm really most impressed by the zoom lens, which brings scenes really close. The sepia ... ...for more 'arty' shots. Downloading to your PC is easy once you've downloaded the Picture Project system provided with the camera, and the intuitive system helps even a novice like me to successfully edit photographs (with or without reading the step by step instructions). The really unique feature is the swivel lens - it takes some getting used to, and you might find yourself taking photos of the ceiling at first, but it does provide an opportunity ...

...has a real mechanical zoom ring, not an electronic one like on the F707/717. As I mentioned, Sony labels the focal range in 35mm terms on the lens barrel. The zoom ring has a nice feel to it, reminiscent of the lenses on my SLR.
I'd rather compare the F828 with other fixed-lens cameras, like the Canon PowerShot G5, Fuji FinePix S7000, Minolta DiMAGE A1, NikonCoolpix 5700, Olympus C-5060WZ and C-750UZ, and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10. When you do that comparison, the F828 comes out on top in almost all areas, including resolution (unless you count the S7000's 12MP mode), focusing, performance, gimmicks (Nightshot and movie mode), and build quality. The F828's lens is stunning, as well. The dual memory card slots support both standard CompactFlash, as well as Sony's pricey Memory Stick Pro cards. Battery life is excellent.
So what...
