There are 4 modes for use with this camera, shutter priority, manual, apature priority and 'P' or 'automatic'. Along with this are subject settings, i.e: sunny; cloudy; florescent lighting; shadow; ect, all of which are excellent features. The D1X performs well in most circumstances, although it is not brilliant with skin tones. For every 6/10 photographs I take of people, I need to correct the colour slightly. A very useful thing about Nikon is that all of the lenses are inter-changable, so if you plan on buying (or have) more than one Nikon SLR there is no need to buy extra zoom or wide-angled lenses for each of them.

Another feature (good or bad?) is all of the custom features. There are 50 or even more, (I really dont know what they all do!) but an example of one is a feature which always makes your shutter speed go up or down by 2 numbers instead of one.
If you are a keen sports, nature or even aircraft photographer (a larger lens would be needed for these) and can justify splashing the cash then this is the ideal camera!
This camera would need a basic or intermediate knowledge of SLR cameras, and the manual would need to be thoroughly read to understand all this camera has to offer!

It is true that the competition will come not only from Canon with its cheaper Rebel Xsi, Sony?s Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 (12.2 mega pixel), Pentax K20D (14.6 mega pixel) but mainly from its own 40D (10 mega pixel) which must be a great source of pride for Nikon. The company has made out a niche of coming out with super quality cameras and has justified the faith of millions with the NikonD90.
At 132 x 103 x 77 mm (5.2 x 4.1x 3.0 in) weighing 585 g (1.3 lb) without battery and: 668 g (1.5 lb) with battery the Kanon D90 is definitely on the bulkier side compared to others in its price range but it more sturdy and substantial for that matter. Some of its features are similar to the D80 like the size, uses the same battery and has similar vertical grip.

photos, but of course the storage capacity of 8 MB on the compact flash card limits your options there. If you want to invest more money, you can replace the compact flash card with a card that has got more memory.
In summary, I think that it is a good idea to have three different devices in one, but obviously the qualtity of the components does suffer as a result of the combination.
In particular the digital camera function was disappointing for me. However, as a fun camera, the Samsung Digimax 35 MP3 is OK if you do not have too high expectations.
Nevertheless, I think I'll invest some money into a pure digital camera soon to achieve a better quality of my photos.
The NikonD1X, however, will remain an unaffordable dream.

This lens came in a bundle with my NikonD60 digital SLR camera that i bought recently, but can also be purchased separately from many places for a reasonable price.
COMPATIBILITY:
As stated on the Nikon website, this lens is an ultra-compact and lightweight zoom lens with high quality optics designed for use with the Nikon DX Format Digital SLRs. The lens will fit onto and Nikon digital SLR (D40, D50, D70, D80, D100, D200, D1x, D2X, etc.) It will not, however, work on film cameras, as black corners will appear.
EASE OF USE:
The lens is easy to attach and detach from the camera, which is excellent when you want to take a photo of something and have limited time to swap lenses over.
