I bought this camera 3 years ago and since this time I have taken thousands of pictures. The camera is a half professional equipment which means it could be used in both professional and unprofessional fields. Personally I like this camera very much. It has many useful functions (extended white balance function, bracketing, image overlay, interval timer shooting, etc). It has good shutter speed up to 1/8000 sec and wide range of ISO 100-1600 (up to ISO 3200 with boost). It has 2 different file formats: RAW which gives you uncompressed pictures and popular JPEG (3 levels). 10.2 million effective pixels gives you image size up to 3872-2592. I like its big (2.5") and with high resolution (230.000 pixels) LCD monitor. You can see your pictures in really good quality. Its body made from magnesium alloy is well designed. You can very easily reach all buttons and knobs. I do not recommend you to buy SIGMA lens DC 18-200 as I found it is very slow to set focus on an object comparing to Nikkor lenses.
Also I found a weak point of this camera's body. After a few months of using I lost two plastic covers for cable connections. They just fell off the camera. Moreover the rubber covers to facilitate holding the camera just unstacked from the body.
Advantages: Good picture Quality, Fast shutter speed, excellent build and quality Disadvantages: can be a little big to carry everywhere with you, takes time to get to grips with all the settings
The Nikon D200 is an exceptional piece of equipment, and for those of you who have owned one or are still using the D200 will know what I am talking about. The build quality is just outstanding, I have dropped my D200 numerous times and it is still solid and taking excellent pictures. The speed of the camera is also pretty good, shooting at 5fps you are sure to capture all the action. The 10.2 megapixels will give you outsatnding picture quality ... ...be able to get the Nikon D200 at the fraction of the price I paid for it 3 Years ago (£850). It will take time to get use to all the different setting and controls, but the instruction manual will get you well on your way to mastering the D200. I will never regret buying my nikon D200, it is an awesome piece of equipment. ...

Advantages: Short Cut Menus Disadvantages: A little small for larger hands
...the imaging capabilities of the Nikon beats the S2 outright as its a 6 mega pixel camera verus 10 mega pixel. There are short-cut functions in the top of the body such as ISO and white balance settings so there is no need to search through the menus to find these. Initially this camera may seem daunting due to the vastness of the menus, but some guidance from the well written instruction booklet and the Nikon website the camera can be easily set ... ...this camera a little small to grip on its own, but with the base grip accessory this makes for a good size to hold and looks more like a professional body. Overall I am thoroughly please with my purchase and can rely on this is in rain or shine to get the images I require! ...

This camera offers great photos with it's 10.9Megapixel's and a 2.5"ACL screen 230,000 pixels Low temperature polysilicium TFT screen, there is no digital zoom but there is optical zoom but that depends upon the lens.

Advantages: Metering, low ISO performance, image quality, build quality Disadvantages: dynamic range, noise in high ISO
Nikon D200 was launched in late 2005 and since been replaced by its worthy successor, the D300. The question is, whether it is still worthwhile to invest in D200? IMHO, it still is, especially if you are shifting from film to digital.
The buld quality and handling of D200 is exceptionally good; so is the metering and image quality. Colour rendition, in my opinion, is a bit more saturated but that can always be tweaked in PS.
The area where D200 ... ...ISOs, this workhorse is still hard to beat. Mirror lock up is a very useful feature with this camera, especially if your genre is landscape photography.
IMO:
Go for it and invest in good quality Nikon glass by the savings you make by not opting for a pricier camera. ...

...ended up with Nikon.
The Nikon D200 is an easy to use SLR body with a wealth of features that are hidden in menus if you ever want to use them.
It's the sort of camera that would be easy to use out of the box without the instruction book.
Results: On the standard settings, the images this camera produces are lovely and punchy and hardly need any editing afterwards.
It may be slightly pricier than some other models but this is a semi-pro model ... ...the genuine battery.. it's not that power hungry either..

Advantages: Very good value now that it costs under £500 Disadvantages: Fast shooting is quite slow at 3fps
This DSLR camera was over £1000 when it first came on the market. Now it is under £500 and it is a bargin of a DSLR for the money.
It shares a body with the NikonD200. Because of this it can be used with Nikon Lens' and D200 accessories.
It uses Compact Flash memory, and has a cache ram for 7 shots.
The camera is quite big, heavy and bulky so is not the best of cameras for taking on holiday etc. But the quality of the pictures is excellant.
It can be used as fully automatic and basicly just point and shoot but for the best results I've found that the manual settings (if you can be bothered using them) gives the best results. ...
Advantages: Best Feature in Great Price Disadvantages: None
The D80 is another superb camera in Nikon's impressive DSLR range. It is extremely well made, incredibly versatile and capable of fantastic picture quality. The NikonD80 is an enthusiast's dream and is incredibly rewarding to use. I had always a dream of buying NikonD200 but with the release of D80 in much more economical price and the features somehow same to the D200, I was impressed.
It has a new and improved 10.2-megapixel image sensor. It is an interesting mix of point-and-shoot and serious camera, Nikon's D80 has been touted as a 'little sister' to the D200 model and offers many of the same features and the 'quality' feel users have come to expect from Nikon DSLRs.
This is a highly recommended camera that can outrun every other DSLR camera in the market. ...

Advantages: Great battery life, comfortable in the hands, picture quality. Disadvantages: Flimsy memory card and remote release slot.
I was looking for a new camera and had a budget of around £300.
Compact cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix TZ and the Nikon Coolpix P80 kept coming up, as did the NikonD40 and the Sony a200. I decided to go for the Sony in the end as it was a name I trusted and I had used a compact Sony in the past.
The quality difference between my old compact camera and this camera was incredible. Shots always seem to come out crisp and clear, whatever lighting conditions the picture was taken in. Battery life is great and the percentage meter of battery power remaining is invaluable.
The camera fits well in large hands, and all of the buttons and dials on the camera are comfortably positioned. Having only used a compact camera in the past, the sheer number of options took a while to get used to, but once I was familiar with the camera everything ...
