Advantages: Best mega pic for the money, good strong camera, simple to use on screen menu Disadvantages: Not a lot really. so many functions you prob wont use them all
...Very good camera from a very good camera maker, also used the D50 this is such an improvment over the D50 with such a high mega pic and lots of sub menu's etc
For a beginner it might be a bit to much to use at first, but give it time and it will reward with some super shots.
My self am not sure if its worth the extra over the D50 but it cost a bit less than the D200 and has many functions as the D200 thats aimed at the med/pro sector.
Any lens that comes from nikon is good full stop, super sharp, good to handel easy to use,
nikon lens from the old film camera's even fit the new digital nikon's
There is lots more i could say but before i bought mine i used a D50 for some time and loved it to bits i only bought the D80 as i wanted the extra quality from pics but now i have it am not sure if i should of just got a D50 as for what i use...

Advantages: Low noise at high ISO settings Disadvantages: None so far
...I exchanged my D200 for a D300 a week ago. At the moment the weather has not been particularly good so the camera has been set at a high ISO rating. One set of pictures were taken at ISO 1600, something I would have never attempted with my D200 or my D2Xs, which I also have. The results are very pleasing and the lack of noise is a great achievement for Nikon. Previously in low light conditions, I would have to put the pictures through Photoshop and use Noise Ninja etc. The colours are also good and the presettings allow you to tailor the image to your own liking. Another step forward is the "Live View" option. This will be a great asset to lndscape, still life and macro photographers. The pre-view screen on the back of the camera is a huge and very clear....

Advantages: Short Cut Menus Disadvantages: A little small for larger hands
...This camera is a great kit for the price tag, especially as it has features both of a pro digital SLR as it has an aluminium body, with easy usage similar to an entry level camera. I have personally been using a Fuji S2 proir to this and the imaging capabilities of the Nikon beats the S2 outright as its a 6 mega pixel camera verus 10 mega pixel. There are short-cut functions in the top of the body such as ISO and white balance settings so there is no need to search through the menus to find these. Initially this camera may seem daunting due to the vastness of the menus, but some guidance from the well written instruction booklet and the Nikon website the camera can be easily set up to suit your shooting requirements. I personally found this camera a little small to grip on its own, but with the base grip accessory this makes...

The Nikon D300 will currently set you back around £1000 in the UK, and that's without the glass on the front. My review here might seem technical to some, but that's not an amount of money most people part with lightly. I don't apologise for putting some more
I own this camera for quite a while now and I'm fully satisfied with it.
Though its 6.1 - 10.2 mega-pixel resolution was beaten with over 12 mega-pixel offered by new Nikon D300, for the price I paid Nikon D60 served me very well. Quality of pictures is more
