Instructions are easy to follow and I found within an hour I could easily operate this quickly and efficiently without any queries on which ... ...and photographs taken are of excellent quality and even small detail shows up very clearly.
Information on camera settings can be viewed through the viewfinder - so I found I could change all my settings whilst still focusing on an image.
I found the battery life for this camera extraordinarily long and the camera even tracks this so you can see when you need to change the battery - I left the camera turned on for 36 hours by accident ... more

Compared to other cameras that I have used this one operates very quickly - both in taking pictures and saving them. Instructions are easy to follow and I found within an hour I could easily operate this quickly and efficiently without any queries on which buttons I needed, etc. Images shown on the camera and photographs taken are of excellent quality and even small detail shows up very clearly. Information on camera settings can be viewed through the viewfinder - so I found I could change all my settings whilst still focusing on an image. I found the battery life for this camera extraordinarily long and the camera even tracks this so you can see when you need to change the battery - I left the camera turned on for 36 hours by accident and it still showed 90% battery life remaining. Another great feature with this camera is the ability to choose the size and quality of each of your images when you save them. This camera cost me just under £3000 - purchased 3 months ago and still in perfect working order - I would recommend purchasing it from either 'Pixmania' or 'the digital camera company' - having used both of tehse stores in the past and found them very reliable and easy to deal with.

It is true that the competition will come not only from Canon with its cheaper Rebel Xsi, Sony?s Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 (12.2 mega pixel), Pentax K20D (14.6 mega pixel) but mainly from its own 40D (10 mega pixel) which must be a great source of pride for Nikon. The company has made out a niche of coming out with super quality cameras and has justified the faith of millions with the NikonD90.
At 132 x 103 x 77 mm (5.2x 4.1 x 3.0 in) weighing 585 g (1.3 lb) without battery and: 668 g (1.5 lb) with battery the Kanon D90 is definitely on the bulkier side compared to others in its price range but it more sturdy and substantial for that matter. Some of its features are similar to the D80 like the size, uses the same battery and has similar vertical grip.

As a newcomer to digital slrs and slrs altogether i have spent hours trying to decide which camera to buy. i narrowed it down to 2 choices, the nikond40x and the canon 400d.
these are both brilliant cameras for their price but the nikon performs slightly better in my opinion and is about £30 cheaper. if you are comparing this to the earlier d40 i would highly recommend paying the extra money for this as the extra 4 mega pixels will be vital if you are planning on enlarging your photos to anything bigger than a3.
the optical quality of the 18-55mm kit lens is outstanding compared to the 18-55mm lens that comes with the canon which produces slightly soft images when enlarged to bigger than a4.
Features of this camera include ISO range 100-1600 (extendable to 3200) 4,000 shutter speed etc. all of this info is displayed ...

Advantages: great price, easy to use Disadvantages: low focal length, so not great for shooting from a distance
This lens came in a bundle with my NikonD60 digital SLR camera that i bought recently, but can also be purchased separately from many places for a reasonable price.
COMPATIBILITY:
As stated on the Nikon website, this lens is an ultra-compact and lightweight zoom lens with high quality optics designed for use with the Nikon DX Format Digital SLRs. The lens will fit onto and Nikon digital SLR (D40, D50, D70, D80, D100, D200, D1x, D2X, etc.) It will not, however, work on film cameras, as black corners will appear.
EASE OF USE:
The lens is easy to attach and detach from the camera, which is excellent when you want to take a photo of something and have limited time to swap lenses over. It is also very easy for beginners to use, (which is probably why Nikon sell it frequently in a bundle with digital SLR's) as it has auto-focus.
