Lightweight compared to the older D50 have been using for work, the LCD screen is much larger too. Ive had the camera for 2 months now and have only skimmed the surface of its capabilities, using it for real estate photography with a Sigma 10-20mmwide angle lens it has been excellent just set on the default settings (thankfully!) There are plenty of point and press settings to take happy snaps, automatic focusing with compatible lenses. Unlike the compact cameras there is no digital zoom and the inbuilt flash is good for fill in flash while happy snapping, but is a bit ineffective compared to the add on speedlight option. The battery life is excellent in comparison to my old coolpix 8700, i suppose this is because the lens zoom is performed by hand not a motor inside the camera. There is an editing program within the camera to adjust color and brightness of individual pictures, this has not been so successful as the representation on the camera's LCD screen has been quite different to the computer screen once files have been uploaded. All in all I just love it, a great improvement of my compact digital and so much cheaper to use than my SLR with film (film! whats film?!)

Advantages: Small (for a D-SLR), practical, easy to use, nice touches Disadvantages: slightly heavy, relatively low FPS for burst mode, doesn't operate as a usb drive on the computer
