Having owned this camera for a few months now, I feel I have learnt enough about the camera to write a review on it. I would genuinely recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality SLR at an amazing price!
QUALITY: With 10.2 megapixels, the image quality of the pictures produced from this is excellent. Fine detail can be captured with one simple click. The night shot is not as clear as daytime shots, and needs to be used with a tripod in order to stop camera shake and image blurring. The zoom with the 18-55mm lens is good, and is able to capture detail from far away.
SIZE & APPEARANCE: Nikon branded this camera as 'its most compact yet', and weighing just over 16 ounces, it is very easy to transport around. The camera looks similar to all other Nikon cameras; with its black casing and minimal colour. The strap has 'Nikon' in yellow, but this is basically the only colour on the camera.
MODES: There are 12 modes that come programmed into this camera, most of which come in extremely useful in different situations. It is very easy to switch between modes; you simply turn the dial on the camera. For the more professional photographers out there, the Aperture Priority (A), Shutter Priority (S), Auto Programme (P) and Manual Programme are the best to use. The instruction booklet provided gives very good, clear and simple instructions on how to use these modes if you are unsure and want to learn. For the more amateur photographers, the 'automatic' mode is probably best to use, as this controls your shutter speed, aperture, flash and focus all in one without you having to do a thing! The other modes included are: - Flash off - Portrait - Landscape - Child - Sports - Close-up - Night portrait
BATTERY LIFE: With up to 500 images per battery charge, and the battery taking only 1.5 hours to charge, you will never be without a camera in the moments you need it most!
INCLUDED IN THE BOX: Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Quick Charger, USB Cable, Rubber Eyecup, Camera Strap, Body Cap, Eyepiece Cap, Accessory Shoe Cover, Software Suite CD-ROM. If you can buy the camera in a bundle and get a lens included, this will work out a LOT cheaper.
SUMMARY: This camera is compact, excellent quality and great value for money! I recommend it to anyone who wants an SLR at under £400.
