Advantages: Solid pro camera Disadvantages: Fiddly at times
I have owned a Nikon F100 for over a year, using it in a professional capacity as well as for personal use. Having owned several Nikons including an F4 it can honestly say it is the best Nikon I have used. It is a solid camera, well built, especially when compared to some of todays plastic offerings. There is a range of features that even the hardened pro would have difficulty in using. The autofocus is the fastest I have come across. As a sucessor to the F90, a lot of pros will be buying this camera especially as it is equal to if not better than the F5 but significantly cheaper. Don't expect to find too many on the second hand market yet, this is a camera that few people will be dissapointed in.

...If you buy, make sure you buy quality lenses to go with it. I bought the Nikon 18-35 and 28-200 which for me produce pin sharp images every time. This is quite simply the best camera I have ever used and would have no hesitation in recommending it. ...

Advantages: Lenses, Build, Feel Disadvantages: Viewfinder, Flash, Auto focus, noise
a disappointment, I endied up selling everything for a good price on ebay. I bought a NikonF100 a 20-35mm f2.8 and a 180mm f2,8 and an SB-28 flash to go with the 35-70mm f2.8 and 300mm f4 lenses that I, thankfullly, did not sell. You know what, I cannot tell much difference in the quality I get from these lenses when I compare them to photos I took with the G2. For me, the view through the F100 makes a big difference in my ability to capture the shot when I am photographing people. Also, I missed the long telephoto shots. I considering just keeping the G2 and 45mm lens for a walking around camera, but it really isn't small enough for that. I bought a used Leica CM on ebay. It has a super lens, fantastic build, the fill flash is perfect. The viewfinder isn't any better than the G2 (What are camera designers thinking?), but I can handle that in a camera ...

Advantages: Hugely versatile. Compact. Light. Inexpensive. High quality. Disadvantages: None!
effectively becoming a very useful 70mm f/2 portrait lens. A 100mm lens needs to have a maximum aperture of f/2, so that it converts to an effective 140mm f/2.8, a great 'head shot' portrait lens with very shallow DOF (Depth-of-Field).
Things become even more exciting when using this converter on APS-C sensor DSLR's when that 50mm f/1.4 'standard' lens becomes a far more exciting 105mm f/2 lens (Nikon APS-C), 112mm f/2 (Canon APS-C) or 119mm f/2 on Sigma DSLR's. That 100mm f/2 lens I mentioned earlier will become an effective 210mm f/2.8 lens (Nikon APS-C), 224mm f/2.8 lens (Canon APS-C) and a 238mm f/2.8 on Sigma DSLR's. Quite useful.
The converter is also very useful when paired with a good macro lens, such as Sigma's 70mm f/2.8, 105mm f/2.8 or 150mm f/2.8 Macro lenses, where it not only provides additional working space (through longer ...
Advantages: Lovely Lightweight Camera Disadvantages: Took a while getting to learn all the conponants
I have been into photography for most of my life, infact I started out venturing and dabbling with cameras, almost as long as I started to walk. I started out with a small kodak 126 given me to play with by my mother when I was a toddler! This is what really astarted me off in photography.
.. My first SLR camera was a Praktika MK3, bought 2nd hand from Cash Converters about 5 years ago for the princly some of £45.00, Very bulky and cumbersome camera to use, but started to teach me more of what photography was about, so with this thought I can not really complain too much. I was greatful for havin this rather cumbersom camera in my possesion for a while. I used to joke that with the lenses I had for this camera that I needed a truck to get me from A to B lol! They where huge!
About 2 years back I went and bought a NikonF ...

Fantastic build quality, superb handling, access to Nikon's legendary range of lenses, capable of virtually any assignment, total "systems"camera
Slow 1/80 sec flash sync, idiosyncratic position of hot-shoe,dull (by modern standards anyway) viewfinder, metering pattern takes getting used to, this is NOT a point-and-shoot camera. (*)
