Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

. The D90, whilst looking, from the front at least, identical now boasts a picture definition of 12.3 mega pixels, twice that of the D70. However, it?s in what else it can now do that it outstrips the D70 by a mile. For one thing, it has the capability to shoot movies (yes, movies) in 720 line hi-def which can then be fed via an HDMI port direct to an HD-ready TV. Unlike the first wave of DSLRs, you can now preview the shot you?re about to take on the LCD screen at the back rather than use it to play back existing shots only. This has long been the ?Holy Grail? of SLR makers since SLRs still retain a physical shutter that keeps the ?film? or rather the electronic sensor in the dark till ready to fire so this is no mean feat. However, it?s not unique to Nikon ? I think Olympus, Canon and maybe others have been doing this for a while now ...

Review of Nikon D90

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

How I made my choice I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel ...

Review of Nikon D90

my experience from this product

Advantages: ease of use
Disadvantages: take time to do it

The construction of the film holders is of a very high standard and each kept the film flat. I was a little concerned about the 35mm strip holder, my negatives still tend to curl, but on closer inspection you can see there are a couple of clips to hold the film. On each of the film holders there is a raised clip, this avoids finger marks on the glass plate. The scanning area on the TPUGood attention to detail throughout. Clips hold your 35mm stripsUse the left side if scanning one strip One serious omission from the film holders is a strip holder for 120 roll film, I can imagine it would be a useful feature for wedding photographers to scan in an entire strip at a time. The scanner is almost silent when scanning, the only indication that the scan is happening is a progress bar on the Epson interface. Scans times are very ...
