Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for
There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads?
What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?.
LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED
Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90.
Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace ...

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode
charge and lasted for weeks! Even when I use the screen and flash a lot, it only used half the battery after taking around 800 pictures on 2 week holiday.
Lenses
I would definitely recommend the 18-105 kit lens you can get with the D90. It has the VR vibration reduction feature, a speedy auto-focus motor and good image quality and a long enough zoom for all your everyday shots (much better than the 18 -55 lens that comes with other D models like the D5000). I also have a 70 - 300mm zooms lens for basic wildlife shots, which I bought on ebay for around £80. The D90 has the advantage on an inbuilt auto-focus motor, not found in the smaller bodied D40, D60 and D5000. This means that all Nikon lens can be used, rather than just the newer AF lenses.
Disadvantages
The only disadvantage I can think of aside from the price tag, is ...

Advantages: A very wide range of features Disadvantages: Doing too much causes the battery to die quickly, Poor Camera
The T-Mobile G1 is my first foray into the world of smart phones. Previously a keen Sony Ericsson Walkman phone user, I wasn?t too sure how I?d adjust to such a dramatically different phone. Honesty, I adjusted quite well. The G1 takes a bit of time to get used to but I don?t regret my decision.
Appearance and Design
The G1 has a rather simple design. It has a 3.2 inch screen and is 117.7 mm in length, 55.7 mm in width and 17.1 mm in thickness. Below the screen is a menu button, answer and cancel call buttons, a back button, a button tacking you back to the home screen and a trackball. Beneath this row of button is space for the phones? 1GB memory card. The G1 features a QWERTY keyboard (making writing anything so very quick and simple) which you can access by easily sliding the screen across, this also changes the orientation ...
