(+) Great screen quality and size, built in speaker and stand. (-) The only downside is that it is fragile, and can be hard to get used to the on screen keyboard.
Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for
you to set an aperture and let the camera find a suitable shutter speed to go with it. This is useful, if say, you want to throw the background of a portrait or close-up out of focus to concentrate the viewer?s attention. (Large apertures make focussing more critical)
?S? for Shutter Priority allows the opposite, giving you the opportunity to freeze or deliberately blur action, letting the camera find an aperture to match.
?P? for Program Mode does a modicum of each adjustment for general picture taking, keeping the camera well within the ISO (film speed) rating range. Incidentally, the ISO range which can either be set by you or by the camera goes from 200-3200, which was practically unheard of in film days, since anything above ISO 400 produced noticeably grainier results especially in colour. The Nikon surpasses its older stable mates ...

Advantages: Small, compact and very easy to use! Disadvantages: Old, not as good as more recent cameras.
just slide in and out of your pocket, and it also gives it a sturdy feel. I've dropped this camera I can't count how many times, but it still works absolutly fine, albeit with a few nicks and scratches!
The screen is more than adequate at 2.5inches, and comes in handy when taking pictures and reviewing what you've captured; a bigger screen always helps! The camera only have a few buttons, all of which are self explanatory, and most useful of all, the actual capture button is the biggest of the lot, so it's obvious which one to press (something which i've often found difficult with some cameras)
In terms of features, the S1 is quite well catered for. It has three modes, automatic, pre-programmed mode, and video. The video is about the quality you'd expect, not great, but definitely at an average level (it records at a resolution of 640x480 ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Nikon Coolpix S1
Advantages: Great looking. Cool colours Disadvantages: Very poor picture quality
I purchased this camera for my daughter in blue for her birthday and she immediately loved the color and the size of the camera. The problem was the picture and the video quality. The pictures were coming out grainy and showed up with rainbow dots. The video she took had visible pink stripes and also rainbow dots showing up. I was not satisfied with this camera, so I returned it within a few days. I was surprised that this camera had poor image quality since it is 10 MP and made by Nikon. I would not recommend this camera. Poor image quality outweighs the good qualities of this camera. High levels of jpeg artifacting coupled with medium levels of chromatic abberation result in image sharpness and contrast lower than that of a 2 megapixel camera, save your money. Do not buy this camera. surprisingly bad for Nikon. ...
