For the majority of professional photographers, that choice is simple: Nikkor. Why? Because Nikkor lenses offer unrivaled clarity, sharpness, focusing accuracy, range and reliability. The reasons for this are many, not the least of which is Nikon's total commitment to controlling every aspect of lens manufacturing. By selecting only the finest raw materials and employing the most advanced processing and design techniques. Nikon produces the precision-crafted lens elements that help you take the world's greatest pictures. Nikon offers this medium telephoto Micro lens for portrait and other high magnification close-up applications. It provides extra working distance for elusive subjects or ones requiring supplemental illumination. Ever want to take pictures of colorful flowers and trees on a trip to the mountains? Advantages: quality otics, very rugged, smooth focus Disadvantages:
...Nikon have produced an PRO AF lens with rugged construction and magnificent quality optics. This f2.8lens is perfect for use in available light, sports and press photography. Watch any paparazzi line up and you will see many press men using this lens as their main work horse.
This balanced lens is a dream to use in both Auto Focus and manual modes. Nikon have not sacrificed the ease of use in manual mode as tends to happen with cheaper lenses. The combined focus / zoom control is excellent for fast manual use.
If I had to choose one lens and no other, this would be the one for me....

Advantages: Full SLR functionality Disadvantages: A bit heavy
...because they are more suitable for manipulation in Photoshop and incredibly sharp!
The camera weighs nearly as much as a NikonF4, so its a heavy beast, but very stable in the hand and with heavy tele and zoom lenses.
This camera has a lens magnification factor of 1.5, thus if you have a 100mmlens you use on your standard Nikon film SLR, you will get a focal length of 150mm when using the same lens on the S2 Pro. This is a great advantage on one hand and a disadvantage on the other. The advantage is, your lenses get more reach, use a 70 to 300mmNikonlens for example and it becomes a 105 to 450mmlens (very powerful).
The downside to this is the fact that Wideangles dont behave quite so wide, ie a 28mm Wide angle becomes a 42mmlens - not good, but you can buy ultrawide zooms especially for digital use ( Sigma have a 12-24mm which yields...

Advantages: Superior quality, easy to use, compact & light, plenty of extras with the camera and you can buy further lenses/accessories Disadvantages: Bit pricey
...My dept. at work have recently purchased the Nikon Coolpix 950, and I can honestly say it's not something we'll regret.
The quality of the images is incredible, and even when printed off at A3 size, there's no distortion to the image.

* 2.11 milion pixel CDD for improved resolution (1600x1200, 1024x768 or 640x480).
* 3 x Optical Zoom (38-115mm) glass Nikkorlens.
* Macro mode to an amazing 2cm.
* Manual focus (ten steps from 10cm to infinity).
* Intelligent exposure metering.
* 1.5 frames per second continuous mode - very handy for moving objects!!
* Decent size 2" LCD monitor.
* Best shot selector, so you don't have to waste valuable space.
Even if you're not an expert photographer, the camera is pretty easy to use once you understand some of the basic controls. But you can also make things as complex as you want...

I have a 70mm to 300mm Sigma zoom and a 28mm to 80mm sigma zoom and this small standard 50mm lens.
The lens costs about £90 new or around the £50 on E Bay.
For everyday photography, I don't think it can be beaten.
The two main advantages are its more
