Advantages: quality otics, very rugged, smooth focus Disadvantages:
...Nikon have produced an PRO AF lens with rugged construction and magnificent quality optics. This f2.8 lens is perfect for use in available light, sports and press photography. Watch any paparazzi line up and you will see many press men using this lens as their main work horse.
This balanced lens is a dream to use in both Auto Focus and manual modes. Nikon have not sacrificed the ease of use in manual mode as tends to happen with cheaper lenses. The combined focus / zoom control is excellent for fast manual use.
If I had to choose one lens and no other, this would be the one for me....

Advantages: small compact Disadvantages: colour boring
...Announced sometime last year. The Nikon Coolpix 5400 caught my eye straight away, 8 mega pixels, Zeiss lens, professional looks and a bargain price. The camera was subject to significant delays and eventually shipped in the first week of 2004. After some major research I sold my fujifilm finepix 1300 and splashed out on the Nikon Coolpix 5400. Shrewd move or major mistake? Read on.
In the box
The first thing that struck me was how light the box and at one stage I did think Nikon had sent me an empty one!. Once inside the bundle is reasonable you get:
NikonCoolpix 5400 camera
NP-FM50 battery and charger/mains adapter
Software including Pixela ImageMixer software, USB drivers, and Nikon Image Data Converter for the raw files (more on that later)
Strap
Lens hood
USB and A/V cable.
Manual
Great camera worth the extra money!!!...
