Great binoculars, great price

Advantages: Price, good low light performance
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

I've had these binoculars for 2 years now, and they've been extremely useful. They were bought for me as a Christmas present, so I don't know exactly how much was paid for them, although a quick browse on the web shows a price around £40. At this price, I reckon these are an absolute steal. By coincidence, at the same time as I was receiving these, I was giving the same person a pair of binoculars in return, the only difference being that they were getting a pair of Leica Trinovid 10X25, which cost over 5 times as much (USD$384 to be precise). I've therefore had a good opportunity to compare the 2, and I think I wasted my money. There's no doubt that the optical quality of the Leica binoculars is slightly better, especially in very poor light, but if you just want a really good product for birdwatching, sports spectating, general ...

Nikon D3000

Advantages: Small and light.
Disadvantages: None so far.

An excellent little DSLR that embodies some older proven Nikon technology like the 10.2 megapixel CCD from the D60/D80 combined with a new 11 point focus system and a shutter mechanism tested to 100,000 cycles. The body is small, perhaps too small for those with shovel sized hands but it is well made and feels very solid. With a camera this size there is no excuse to leave it at home. The kit lens produces excellent results and is a good starting point at least. Battery life is good and SDHC cards are a cheap and plentiful recording medium. As a first step into DSLR photography this is your camera whilst for those more experienced photographers looking for something more discreet and portable this is it. There are no fancy whistle and bells it is just a good straightforward camera....what more do you need? ...

Review of Nikon D3000

Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

in ink now that A4 photos are pin-sharp! I?ve also noticed that photos are now more ?A4? shaped compared to previous experience where they were strictly 4:3 format which suits me fine. Likewise, movies can be shot in 16:9 mode to suit an ever-larger number of televisions. The lens in this ?kit?, the VR 18 -105 zoom comes from the upper of Nikon?s two ranges of digital camera auto-focus lenses, is superb in everyday use. It?s all too easy to read professional reviews that talk of a lack of sharpness at full aperture and full zoom and be put off by them. Then you read that they?re talking about blowing up the outer edge of the picture about 10 times, just so that some nit-picker can say, ?See I told you it wasn?t pin-sharp!? MOANS? Well, not surprisingly for something I?m going to award 5 stars to, they?re few and far between. This ...
