The Excellent Sigma EX 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 DG lens.

Advantages: Superb design, value for money and professional results.
Disadvantages: None

Sigma EX 12-24mm F4.5-5,6 DG Nikon fit AF D. This a great wide-angle zoom lens offering professional performance, results and is a joy to use. It is suitable for both digital SLR's and 35mm Film cameras and focusing can be used manually or autofocus. This my first Sigma lens as I own only quality Nikon lenses so I was unsure at first about purchasing a brand and lens unknown to me. Any doubts or fears about quality were put to rest as soon as I took the lens out of it's box. It is as well crafted as any Nikon lens and a truly remarkable piece of design. It has an unusual appearance as instead of the usual glass flat surface lens it has a "bobble" or "ball" of glass which has a very alien look to it. I'm still not used to this and I feel that as it is sticking out so much that it may be a bit vulnerable to potential damage ...

Review of Sigma EX 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 DG

The nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR, top-of-the-line

Advantages: Beautiful bokeh, tack-sharp, vibration reduction, easy to use, many useful accessories
Disadvantages: heavy, expensive, slight vignetting, prone to flaring

their version, the so-called "vibration reduction", was the 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 ED. An interesting lens to be sure, but Nikon owners really started to get excited at the announcement of the AF-S 70-200 F2.8 VR. This lens, a successor of a highly regarded line of professional lenses, turned out to be spectacular: the image stabila? sorry, the vibration reduction was possibly even more effective than Canon's and the image quality? Well, I am going to discuss that right now! ---Image quality--- The 70-200 VR is a tack-sharp lens, as you would expect of a lens in this price class. It is not even in the same ballpark as normal consumer lenses: the colours are vibrant, the details sharp, and the bokeh (the appearance of parts of the picture that our out of focus) is stunning. The lens is particularly famous for the silky smooth rendering of out ...

Review of Nikon Zoom-Nikkor telephoto zoom lens - 70 mm - 200 mm F/2.8

Great 2nd Lens

Advantages: Fast Focus, well built, reliable excellent performance all round
Disadvantages: Heavy, you will need a tripod

a 1.5 crop factor, that means the lens is effectively a longest zoom of 450mm. With that you can take a good picture of a car number plate from about 450 meters away (500 yards in old money). The zoom is fast enough for sports like football where you can take quality shots from all accross the field. It is also very good for the bird watchers out there! I never thought I could enthusiasticly put a a camera on a tripod and use the camera as binocular to catch some wildlife like birds, squirrels and field mice. Bear in mind that this lens is quite heavy and you will need a tripod to use it after 100mm. After 100mm you will just get too much camera shake even if you are Arnie because the slightest will get amplified by the same magnitude. You should also remember that as 75mm is it's widest angle, this lens is useless to take photos ...
