An avid McCaffrey reader, I was a bit surprised at this book, but very pleased. She uses elements from some of her other books to provide the background for Nimisha and her family and does it convincingly. The human characters are all very real and plausible, the aliens perhaps less so, as they are ambiguously described in my opinion. Having said that, the book is a good read - find out what a wormhole is first though! Marks out of ten: 8. Hopefully there will be more books in this series...
