Ninja Blade is silly but kinda fun 10 of 10 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages Decent overall, looks ok, silly QTEs make you laugh

Disadvantages Repetitive gameplay, last level outstays its welcome

Ninja Blade is an action hack 'n' slash game by From Software (who also did Demon's Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes). It follows a ninja as he fights against an invasion of parasitic worms.

The game is typical hack 'n slash affair, with three types of weapon (slow, medium, fast), which are useful against different enemies. The enemies come in a variety and are generally fun to fight against (if alittle repetitive). As with all these types of games, the faster flying enemies are a nightmare to fight against, even with the fast weapon. The bosses are fun in general to fight against also.

And oh boy did this game like its Quick Time Events. They're everywhere! The game does give you warning about it (with a quick cut-in into Ken's face) but sometimes the timing can be abit sharp. However the game is actually quite lenient with these events, with quick retries. These can be annoying but aren't actually too bad.

They'd definitely be worse if most of them weren't so ridiculous. The sheer silliness of some of these events will just make the player laugh out loud. The demo shows a good representation of these, where Ken smashs a wrecking ball like a baseball and then rides it into a giant spiders face. It just makes you laugh like an idiot.

Graphically the game looks ok but in general the events are abit uninteresting. The enemies are the same, looking rather boring too. The game's sounds are also similarly uninteresting, with forgettable music and sound effects. The game has a voice over but its similarly forgetful.

The game isn't too difficult but at points it can get tricky (particularly if there's lots of flying enemies around). The last level drags on for far too long also, so it can be highly repetitive to play too. The game lasts for around 15 hours but once complete there's little reason to replay the game really bar achievements. The game should relatively cheap second hand so it may be worth a look.

Ninja Blade - Silly QTEs, with decent gameplay and some minor niggles. Maybe worth a look for fans of DMC or God Of War then?
