Shadow Warriors) but on the Xbox the series found itself a whole new generation of fans with its stunning graphics and intense combat. This is a remake of the Xbox game Ninja Gaiden Black itself a re-release of the original game with extra content. Its essentially a third person fighter not too dissimilar to Devil May Cry, although the combat is more technical than Capcoms freeform style, with every enemy putting up a considerable fight. Indeed without significant amounts of practise the game seems almost remorselessly difficult, even on the disparagingly named "ninja dog" mode. The major addition in terms of content here is a new player character called Rachel, who trades the graceful combat of ninja Ryu Hayabusa for a gigantic hammer. In the end though the most import changes to the game are the apparently endless series of small refinements to each stage, with almost every element of a level tweaked, from different power-ups to new bosses, enemies and even weapons. Naturally the graphics have also been improved and despite the Xbox origins this is one of the best looking games on the PS3.Despite the difficulty this features some of the most graceful combat seen in any game, against a surreal array of different backdrops and enemies. Once you start to master the controls, and realise that almost every attack can be blocked or dodged relatively easily, the whole experience becomes almost balletic.Harrison Dent

Ninja Gaiden 1 is THE one and only hack 'n slash game. It is the best one I have ever played! You take the role of ninja Ryu Hayabusa, who seeks revenge after his clan is massacred by the Vigor Empire. Taking full advantage of three-dimensional space, advance through the story with only your wits, your ninja skills, and your deadly sword-cutting down opponents in the Vigoor Empire as you attempt to beat the Holy Emperor and reclaim the magic sword "Ryuken."
This is what it all stands for: EXTREME ACTION!!! When I bought this game, I was astonished by the graphics. It looked awesome, professional. Already from the start, you notice that this game isn't for beginners. After some difficulties with skills, you have to take it on with a Boss. From this point on, you started a journey for a long time. This is a game where you can see who is a beginner who are the professionals. This isn't a game where you complete in only 8 hours of game play. I needed a whole month to complete the game. You have to take on boss like 20 to 30 before you can kill it. Even when you know his weak points, it is still hard because you are in the middle of nowhere with no potions. So I can assure you that when you play this game, you are definitely going to be mad and pissed about the game. It is a difficult game. That is why you have walkthrough on the internet which contains more than 25000 words with every single step and help what to do in what situation. So when you think you can't take it anymore, there is help on the way!
The game has a very good game play. As you are progressing through the game, your skills increase and you earn better weapons (and wow the look awesome!). The better you become in fighting with your enemies, the stronger you will become. This will unlock new combinations and ever bigger skills. The decisions you make in the game are crucial and they will affect the weapons and skills you can acquire, later on in the game.
Ninja Gaiden is astonishing. The visual effects had blown me away! There is a high level of detail, as you are fighting against your enemies in a huge variety of environments. The very cool skills and combinations have taken this game to a whole new level of hacking and slashing.
If I must admit there is one minor disadvantage about this game: there is no multiplayer. I always ask myself what it would if you could take on other ninja's in the game. I think I would need to rehab. Although you first need to spend a lot of time in the single player, I think there should have been a multiplayer.
Overall opinion:
I must admit that this is one of the best games I ever played. It is very addictive and even when you play it over and over again, you still get surprises! The first why you want to complete a level is because of the unbelievable extreme cut scenes, they are really over the top. The game has a very good game play and the controls are easy. The eastern music and environment gives the game the perfect atmosphere. I think everyone who calls himself a gamer, definitely must have played Ninja Gaiden. It takes you to the limits of gaming. You have to restart and restart again until you finally beat a single boss. It really tests if you are determined to complete a game. This game gives a lot of satisfaction if you succeeded in completing it. So to everyone who is searching for THE best game in its hack 'n slash genre, buy Ninja Gaiden. You won't regret your purchase. It's really worth the money!
Advantages: Graphics | Originality | Stunts | Story Disadvantages: Nothing what so ever
...in years; its name is Ninja Gaiden. It is on the XBOX, and only on the XBOX as no other console could stand up to the awesome graphics this game possesses. Ninja Gaiden was created purposely for the XBOX, which then you can assume it will have great graphics and probably have great game play also. You are a ninja that dresses in black ninja clothes, so he has the advantage of camouflage from the shadows of corners on the ceilings. Advantages: Difficult. Amazing graphics. Great gameplay. Good use of downlaodable content. Disadvantages: Difficult.
...did play the previous 2d ninja gaiden games on the snes, but they do have a good reptutation among gamers.
So when i heard team ninja were developing a new game based on the series, i was overjoyed and keen to see what they could accomplish.
As it turns out, they surpassed all my hopes with this game. I'll break the review into several seperate categories to describe just how well they did with this game.
Graphics: Gamers nowadays expect a nice ... ...want from dlc, and team ninja gave us it for free. No premium content.
There are also scoreboards for the game, where you can compete with everyone from the world over by trying to beat scores. There are some dedicated gamers out there though, so it's unlikely you'll actually make an impact. I know i couldn't.
Difficulty:
This one is a double edged sword. Some people will praise it because it offers a challenge. Some will condemn it. I warn you ...

Ninja Gaiden is the long awaited update of the classic arcade game and NES slash’em up/platform games by Tecmo. In the nineties the Ninja Gaiden series was extremely popular and amassed a large following. Tecmo has made us wait a long time to be able to get our hands on this, the first proper follow up, although we have seen the games lead character, Ryu Hayabusa in the Dead or Alive beat’em up series. This poses the question “has it been worth the ... ...out of a bad 80s ninja film! Ryu Hayabusa and his clan are the protectors of the dark dragon blade. When it is stolen by the evil doku, Ryu’s village burned to the ground and all of his clan slaughtered, Ryu does the same thing any self respecting ninja would do! Go on vengeance fuelled killing spree. Luckily, myself and most other gamers didn’t buy this for its story line, but for its combat and in this area Ninja Gaiden most certainly doesn’t disappoint! ...

Advantages: Fun, immersive gameplay Will last a while Disadvantages: Catalogue of gameplay flaws, frustrating
...NinjaGaiden 2 was, in my opinion, going to be the best game of 2008 and to be honest this was solely based on the stunning first instalment from Team Ninja. Everything was perfect; a compelling storyline, fun and fast gameplay that was still very challenging and graphics like none other on the xbox however, NG2 seems to me like it just doesnt have the same effort like the first.
Don't get me wrong, NinjaGaiden 2 is actually a good game however, a catalogue of errors makes it look second rate to the first.
The game has the typical story mode with 14 lengthy chapters (while NG1 had 16) which can be played on 4 difficulties-
Path of the Acolyte
Path of the Warrior
Path of the Mentor (has to be unlocked)
Path of the Master Ninja (has to be unlocked)
Each chapter has you progress through a level with it concluding in a boss...

If Games are more your thing you can purchase an Xbox Live Arcade game, you can choose from a variety of casual games and classics to download. There are some fabulous titles on the Xbox Live Arcade from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game, which has excellent 4 player co-op to Uno, a really addictive card game. There is also some great original content up there like the shooter Assault Heroes which is a modern take on the classic Smash TV formula. An arcade game will cost you from 400-1200 Microsoft Points. If you missed out on the best of the Xbox titles you can download an Xbox Original, these are full downloadable versions of classic Xbox games such as Halo, Fable and NinjaGaiden Black, an Xbox...

Advantages: GOOD GRAPHICS; GOOD GAMEPLAY Disadvantages: EXACT SAME GAME AS ON ORIGINAL XBOX
...I bought this game as one of the first games when I bought my Playstation 3.
I started playing on it and was very impressed with the graphics quality and the gameplay but after playing this for around 15 minutes i noticed that it is the exact same game as the NinjaGaiden game on the Xbox but the graphics have just been polished up. Very disappointed.
I don't want to put anyone off though. If you haven't played the Xbox version it is a very good game and if I hadn't played it on the Xbox I'm sure I would have been very impressed with it.
I also think it's generally quite cheap in retailer shops at the moment as it's quite an old game now so I think it would be quite good value for money.
Just a warning to old Xbox owners out there!!...
