Difficult but rewarding
Advantages: Daily reward of knowing how clever you are Disadvantages: Can take a short while to get used to if you don't play a lot with technology
Dr Kawashima's Brain Training is an excellent tool for those who want that bit extra from reading, or want to keep stimulated during boring days.
The console itself can be bought second hand from Game shops, with the preference being the Nintendo DS Lite. It looks cute and can play a diverse amount of games (including Gamboy Advance Games - It has another slot beneath).
The Brain Training game is excellent and has tools from simple calculations ... ...to setup, you just plug the cartridge into the top of the console and play the game everyday. If you can use a mobile phone you can use one of these.
The aim of the game is to achieve the highest score. And in this game the LOWEST your score is the better you achieve. The ultimate score is usually your actual age, though the game tries to see if you can improve it.
Overall, a fun and rewarding game in the sense that if you forget how many texts ...

Professor Kageyama's Maths Training
Advantages: Gameplay, graphics Disadvantages: Sound, more multiplayer options
...be fun then just buy Professor Kageyma's Maths Training! GAMEPLAY You create a user account, (up to three) and then you can take a Daily Test, practice the exercises or use the Kageyama Method. DAILY TEST Here is where you will do your daily test, if you have 5 good days on a level (e.g. Level 1), you'll advance to the next level! KAGEYAMA METHOD This is Professor Kageyma's special Math method. You get given a grid with some numbers going vertically ... ...quite often. LONGEVITY Professor Kageyama's Maths Training will last you about 4-5 weeks before you've fully improved your Maths through this method. VALUE FOR MONEY You can buy this game from Argos for £19.59. I'd buy it for £14.99, but if you're finding Maths really hard and want to do it the fun way, buy it now! DIFFICULTY I find this game neither too hard, and neither too easy. MULTIPLAYER The only option for multiplayer is doing the Kageyama ...

The best brain game for the DS out there for sure!
Advantages: The graphics and fun look to the game Disadvantages: Not as many puzzles as I would like
There are a lot of brain training games around for the DS but hand on heart this is by far the best one! The graphics and music make the game more fun that the original brain games and fun for the whole family. Although there isn't very many games to play the games are much better than on other brain games.
The first thing you'll see is the homeroom which is where the game begins. Register your name and you're good to go. You can plays the games ... ...a good idea until you've mastered a few of them) or play them in test mode which is a test of a few games and will give you a grade at the end. There's also a Versus mode for play multiplayer where you can connect 2 DS consoles wirelessly in the same room and play against each other.
There are 5 cateogories with 3 games in each - Think, Memorise, Analyse, Compute and Identify. Each game in practice mode you should aim to get a gold medal in - it ...

Train Your Sight with Nintendo DS Sight Training!
Advantages: a good cheap game to play! Disadvantages: Each days training is a ltitle short.
...saw a new game called Sight Training, with the same kind of packaging and design, I really wanted it. The game isn't by Dr Kawashima but has very very similar packaging as to make it look as though it is, whether it is made by the same company but not endorsed by the same "Dr Kawashima" I don't know, but it is much like the original Brain Training game in the way the packaging looks, and even the way the game is set out and played. PRICE:
I got ... ...pay the full price for Sight Training. The Game itself:
The game is made to strengthen your sight by giving it challanges and tests and teaching you how to excercise them to keep them fit and healthy as you do with the rest of your body. The game gives you a range of games to play and puzzles to complete to test your eyesight and make it strong. I don't suppose the game says anything about stopping you needing glasses or keeping your sight at 20/20 ...

Get the kids to do the cooking
Advantages: Very easy to use, loads of ideas great graphics Disadvantages: A little too adventurous for us
...took a real interest in cooking over the school holidays. He has been peeling and chopping veg. cooking salmon fillets, marinating steaks etc. and seems to be getting a real kick out of it. I do think there is a cunning plan behind this sudden involvement as he has recently started to show an interest in girls, coming home from hols with a couple of mobile numbers so is presumably learning to cook to impress them in the future. Or is it because if ... ...When he saw the DS cooking guide advertised he completely fell for it and pleaded to get it. I have to admit I wanted it myself so this was a good way to get brownie points and get something I wanted. What another brilliant piece of marketing by Nintendo, a talking cook book, it proved popular immediately.
The advertising for this title, I can't really call it a game, goes along the lines of "Can't Decide What To Eat? Let Cooking Guide.help" Cooking ...
