This console gets a 5/5 from me reason being:
(the short part)
-bigger screens so everything is alot more visible
-Bigger but still thin + pen/stylus still slots in the side
-Access to the internet via Wifi so it dosen't cost a thing!
-front and back facing cameras complete with photo editing software!
-SD card slot for pictures to be stored onto edited or not
-volume controls are buttons no longer a slider for reliability
-power button under directional controls so no more accidentally turning it off whilst playing (phew thanks nintendo!)

(the longer part)
The dsi xl is a great idea for anyone, any age wishing to get thier hands onto a portable gaming device whether it just be for some crosswords, poker games or to indulge into a fantasy game. The bigger screens make this particular model quite popular as older audiences find it more relaxing on the eye and younger audiences for the range of primary colours aswell as a little more freedom when it comes to drawing on it or playing around with taken photos.

Also being a nintendo ds means that there are no compatability issues when it comes to other ds games, there is no such thing as a "nintendo dsi game" . unfortunatly though the design for the charger has been changed, so the previous chargers say for the ds lite or origional ds chargers won't work. Another point to make is an obvious one, that considering its bigger means it weighs a little more so the smaller dsi weighing a rough 214g whereas the dsi xl comes in at a rough 314g, the silver lining being that the dsi is averaged at 11.5 hours gameplay and the dsi xl is averaged at 16 so a little piece of mind =].
