No, what we have here is the one that started it all - and, in many ways, blasted the entire handheld market from a niche sector into the mainstream - the good old, 100-million-plus-selling, Nintendo Game Boy itself. ...- the good old, 100-million-plus-selling, Nintendo Game Boy itself. Just let me drag myself away from Alfred Chicken for a minute (no officer, it's nothing like that. Honestly) and I'll be with you.
At first glance, it looks rather dull. At second glance, even more so - really nothing more than a grey brick with a tiny LCD screen, an even tinier speaker and a few buttons dotted about. The most exciting feature it can muster is probably the legend ... ...fell apart after five minutes). Nintendo did this by selling many early Game Boys bundled with a game. Not a new strategy, of course - people always feel better if they haven't got to shell out extra on top of the console, even if the total cost works out much the same. What made it work this time was the identity of the bundled game - one of the very first games to hail from what was then still the Soviet Union. The name of the game's author was ...

Advantages: great games, great graphics(for his age) Disadvantages: size, not so pocket size, sometimes dodgy sounds and graphics(but that's the game developers mna!)
I have owned an original gameboy now for ten, nearly eleven, whopping years. And althoug I play it a lot less than I used to, it's the best buddy a gal(or guy) can have on long, or even short twenty minute, journeys, especially, when like me, you get a little bit green from reading in the car.
If Sony is the dominant one among the big boys, Ninty is definitely the dominant one among the little boys. The lynx was the first to fall, then the game ... ...game gear) and more recently, it smashed the neo geo into practical oblivion.
But why? Someone (no names) commented on the game boy original as 'being a waste of money' with crap graphics. I challenge them to play tiny toons, or any of the wario lands, or mario land 2 and more recently games like pokemon(the last game I bought - no jokes, how could I not, with Bulbasaur looking so cute?). The graphics on all of these games are clear and considerably ...

Advantages: Large selection of games Disadvantages: Black and white graphics.
...in the 1990's.
The Nintendo Gameboy originally came out several years before it's 1989 us debut and Japanese debut in the same year. There were many portable games and console before the gameboy.
Sega of Japan (not the US Sega) actually released a couple of portable consoles before the game gear came out. Then later of course came, those cheap, but mildly entertaining Tiger games that cost like $10 at the supermarket.
However, those consoles were ... ...poor designed graphic model.
Why Nintendo didn't spend good money to include True Color Graphics on this portable system is anyone's guess.
The best excuse that Nintendo has it that
they were still making games for the Nes system
and it's upcoming SNES system (to steal competition and profit from Sega) that they
weren't really commited to it. I am pretty sure the executive who had the bright idea of having a black and white portable game console ...

...compared to the competition. The Nintendo system also offered a battery life that was far superior to that of others making it perfect for play on the move. However the one major advantage of the Gameboy was a game that was to become legendary......‘Tetris'. Despite being one of the most simple games ever made it was also possibly the most addictive. The basic principle on the game is too line up shapes made of four small blocks that fall from the ... ...formed which then disappears adding to your total score and line total.
These advantages made the Gameboy very, very popular and have led to many more classic games being produced for the system. These include ‘The Legend of Zelda - Links Awakening', a number of ‘Super Mario' games and of late the worldwide craze that has been ‘Pokemon'. Add to this list another 1000+ games and its not hard to see why the Gameboy is still popular today.

...most addictive game ever, Pokemon. Nintendo made it in the 80s, and it is still selling tremendously well even now. The ability to play where ever you go is a great benefit of the system, and the batterys will last for hours. I lost a good percentage of my childhood to the gameboy, and even now, I still play it. So its not just a toy, and some of the games are a great laugh.
The incarnations of the gameboy are, The old gameboy: Good ol' grey, black ...
