The Game boy is the best-selling hand-held of all time. It was launched in the US and Japan in 1989 and in Europe in 1990. It has an LCD screen with a very simple controller of A, B, select, start and a direction pad. The unit operated on four AA batteries or a battery pack which was sold separately. The games are comprised of small cartridges.

The Game boy had a huge library of games. Among the notable games were the following:

1) Tetris
2) Super Mario Land
3) Super Mario Land 2
4) Legend of Zelda" Link's Awakening
5) Pokemon
6) Megaman
8) Dr. Mario
9) Yoshi's Cookie
10) Battletoads

The games were frequently much easier than for the other platforms and shorter as well. Game boy at the time was positioned for adults who were always on the go. This was vastly superior to game and watches which could only play one game and were made for small kids.

I remember playing this as a kid and it provided me hours of entertainment at home and on the road. Its also fun to play head to head using the link. I have a library of games ranging from Tiny Toons to The Flash to Batman. Though the black and white LCD screen is passe, the games are fun and simple.
