Advantages: Well designed Pad, Get the Most out of the Virtual Console. Disadvantages: Not Wireless, Overpriced.
You may be thinking hold up I thought the whole appeal of the Wii was it didn't have to use use a normal pad. Why on earth would I want to spend a £10-15 on old technology. Well the main reason reason is the Virtual console which allows you to download old games from N64, Snes, Nes, Mega Drive, Master system and the lesser known PC engine. Allot of these games require button setups that the Wiimote can not provide either because it does not have ... ...suit the old style game.

Well the main reason reason is the Virtual console which allows you to download old games from N64, Snes, Nes, Mega Drive, Master system and the lesser known PC engine. Allot of these games require button setups that the Wiimote can not provide either because it does not have enough buttons or the layout of the buttons does not suit the old style game.

You can also use the Gamecube pad to play virtual console games but the controls are a bit hit and miss. As often commands are assigned to stupid buttons on the pad making it impossible to play the games. (Probably on purpose to make you by a classic controller!). Also you have to plug it directly into the Wii which for me was a bit odd having gotten use to being wireless. So for me the Classic controller works allot better then using the Gamecube pad.
The pad itself is comfortable to hold I have just finished Paper Mario on the N64 with about 15 hours worth of play using using it for 2 -3 hours at a time without getting any hand strain or cramps. The analogue stick is responsive and all the buttons have good bounce and snap back to them so you feel like you can bash them and make the contact you want.
At present there are not many Wii games that you can use the pad on although I have found it useful for the game Mercury Meltdown Revolution (Think Marble Madness) as at times it gives you better control and makes it easier to do the puzzles. I guess as more non specific Wii games get ported to the Wii the classic controller may get more use as often Wiimote motion sensor controls are just added on to games and do not really improve anything.
The only problems I have with it is I think it should be about £5-10 as it is essentially just old technology so being half the price of the Wiimote seems a bit much but that may be me just being a cheap skate! Also you have to plug it into the Wiimote. This makes it a bit awkward as you have to rest the Wiimote on your lap or have a surface next to you to rest it on. It would have been nice if it was completely Wireless.
So in conclusion if you have no intention of using the Virtual console at present there is not much use getting this as not many current Wii games utilise it although this may change in the future. If though you have a Wii and are wanting to use the Virtual console this is a must buy and a very well designed pad.
The Nintendo Wii has really taken the world of computer gaming by storm. In my opinion this is mainly the result of Nintendo looking at all aspects of gaming as we know it, and putting a completely different angle on it. The Nintendo Wii is not the first console to offer wireless controllers. However the way the user uses the controller and interacts with the games has pushed gaming in a new (albeit more physical) direction. But it does not stop ... ...For that real retro feel Nintendo have produced The Classic Controller, before I explain about this controller I think it will be prudent to explain a little about connecting to the internet, downloading games, The Wii remote and then the classic controller.
Wii and connecting to the Internet.
At home we have a wireless network, so for us it was easy to set up. We followed the on screen prompts and were connected in a matter of minutes. Thankfully ...

Advantages: Comfortable, Works with every Virtual Console Console, One type of controller needed for any VC game Disadvantages: Not wireless (plugs into a Wiimote), a little expensive
...to the very high standards Nintendo set with each release.
It has 4 ''action buttons'': a, b, x and y , in the same layout to a DS, (that is in a diamond shape set up), a D-pad on the left, and two analogue sticks, fitted much like the analogue sticks on a DualShock controller for the Playstation 2. On the top, you'll find R (Right) and L (Left) as well as ZR and ZL (minor shoulder buttons situated more towards the center of the controller). There's ... ...from the NES to the Nintendo 64 and played them with the Classic Controller, and it works perfectly with each and every title. I've no complaints about responsiveness, or it's comfortability. It's styling is very modern, and it doesn't look out of place next to the Wiimote, the nunchuck, or the Wii itself. The build quality of the controller is excellent. It feels solid, and there's no give whatsoever if you apply presssure.
I heartedly recomend ...

Advantages: well made, simple design, easy to use Disadvantages: Not exactly a must have piece of wii kit
...have just bought your new Nintendo Wii. You have frantically swung your shiney new wii remote like a tennis racket. But somehow this amazing peice of new gaming technology, with its slightly retro looking graphics will also make you realise just how far gaming has developed. Wii sports is a far cry from the original classics of super mario bros and donkey Kong. Luckily for us (and Nintendo's accountants) the wii also contains a virtual console, where ... ...people. I dont understand why Nintendo did not make it either wirelss or just a standard plug in to the console (as the gamecube controllers can do).
Overall this is the only controller that can be used on ALL virtual console games (gamecube controllers can be used most of the time but there are some compatability issues and the layout of the buttons does not work well when playing the older, simpler games). The controller is well made but due to ...

Advantages: comfortable, great for lots of wii games, well designed Disadvantages: not wireless
The Nintendo classic controller is a wii remote accessory which is attatched into the slot in which you place the nunchuk. However, unlike the nunchuk, it is used on it's own and not in conjunction with the wii remote.
The design is similair to that of the playstation controller. It has two analog sticks, a set of directional buttons, four buttons at the front an four buttons at the back. The Nintendo classic controller is used for nearly all the ... ...previous Nintendo consoles have followed a similair design. The Nintendo classic controller can also be used for regular Nintendo wii games, particularly games made by Nintendo, such as Mario Kart and Smash bros, because the previous games in the series used a controller that follows a similair design.
The only downside about this controller, that I can think of, is that having the wii remote on your lap while playing with it is rather annoying.

Advantages: fun for family, downloadable content, 4 controllers, wii shop channel Disadvantages: controls hit and miss, miss out if cant get ur wii 2 connect 2 the internet
The nintendowii is arguably one of the greatest games consoles of all time and the first with motion sensing controls. One of the few downsides of the wii is that quite a lot of the games on the console look like gamecube games. The motion sensing controls tend to be a hit and miss, some games controls work well and some work terribly. Also if you don't like using the wii remote for may of the games you can use the gamecube remote or a nintendoclassiccontroller. Another plus is if you get your wii connected to the internet there is lots of downloadable content that you can purchase, some is free others can cost up to £15. In conclusion I would reccomend the nintendowii to also anyone. ...

Advantages: Fun, Many games and features, originality, wii sensor control Disadvantages: Graphics not "NEW GEN", internet is quite slow

NintendoWii or prveiously called "Nintendo Revolution" sure is a revolution to the world of gaming. It has enhanced sensor movements by the addition of the wiicontroller and wii numbchuck.
The main wiicontroller looks like a remote with loudspeakers and motion sensoring built in. For many games any movement you do with your hands will be repeated onto the screen by the use of a tube sensor that senses any movement done by the controller, amazing no?
This is not the only thing, apart from its tremendous controller it also has Livestream internet, Wii channels and wii points where you can buy online games or classicnintendo games.
All games are for all ages and they all bring lots ...
