(Well don't ask don't get lol) The guy surprisingly said yes but the only one I am willing to let go for that is Nintendogs, perfect I thought as it's the most expensive one to buy in the shops at £29.99 so handed over the money and took it home to my very excited son.

However when I collected the DS I noticed the guy had more games for sale so I asked if he had any more games for sale he would let go for £11 all I had left. (Well don't ask don't get lol) The guy surprisingly said yes but the only one I am willing to let go for that is Nintendogs, perfect I thought as it's the most expensive one to buy in the shops at £29.99 so handed over the money and took it home to my very excited son.
After he had played the other less interesting games he slid Nintendogs into the console and didn't put it down again until bedtime which is when I finally got to have a go lol. So turning it on I was very impressed the console was very smart but that's for another review. Nintendogs loaded up and just like my son once I started I could not stop about 3am before I pulled my eye's away and went to bed wife was none to happy lol.
The game starts with you going to the kennels and choosing a new puppy (be aware they all have their own personalities and can be trained to the behavior you want) and it is amazing just how realistic the graphics are they come up to you for petting and make it very hard to make a choice but I settled on a very cute boxer pup who was all over my screen when I went into the kennels. Then comes taking your new best friend home and teaching him/her their name this is done through a brilliant voice recognition system built into the Nintendo DS so when you call your pet they come to you and do as you say just teach them the commands and they do as you say (sometimes lol). Sit, Roll, Jump loads of commands are available to teach your new pet and this becomes more relevant as the game goes' on.
Once you have got your new pet used to his/her name and used the touch screen to pet and reward your pet you can get the lead out and go for walkies. First you have to use the touch screen to select a route you want to take be it to the shops to get supplies or to the second hand shop to sell items to buy food etc or just go for a stroll with your new friend. Once you are out walking you use the touch screen to control the lead and bring your dog to heal great fun and just like real dog's they don't always do as they are told. Whilst out and about your dog may well find new friends or enemies in other dogs or even pick up old cameras and sticks for you which you can sell for cash.
Be warned if your doggie does poop on the floor make sure you pick it up because unlike real life your are very very likely to get fined and this can seriously damage the care you can give to your beloved new friend.
On returning home you can then play and feed your dog with loads of different foods available from the local shop you can vary the diet. Also you can buy many different toy's from tennis ball's to Frisbees these again become apparent when you move further on in the game but all are controlled by touch screen and can be thrown and returned by your pet but don't forget to pet them when they return its all part of the training.
When you have mastered all the controls and taught your dog all your verbal commands you can then enter doggy contests to win cash and prizes and increase your reputation as a top dog handler. These are great fun and vary from obedience to Frisbee catching all learned previously at home or out and about.
There is one toy that has to be my favorite and that is the bubble blower it brings up a bubble wand on your touch screen and all you do is literally blow the screen for bubbles to come out don't ask me how this works but it's amazing.(Small things small minds I guess lol).
This game is just impossible to put down and me and my son now have mini fight's over whose turn it is lol. We are having to share the same dog now as you can only have 1 user at anytime but if I get myself a DS (If my beautiful wife allows me lol) then we can wirelessly play together as Nintendo DS has wireless technology. You can however own up to 3 puppies at any one time but be warned this is for when you have had plenty of practice and feel confident that each pet will get on.
There are also lesson plans built into the game so anytime you are not sure what you need to do next just bring up a lesson and get learning with your faithful friend. Nintendog owners can also check out new blogs and news on the official Nintendogs website which if you become as addicted as me you may well be sad enough to do lol.
One excellent option is being able to move house as well but be warned you need to earn loads of cash to be able to do this but bigger and better pads are available for the more persistent players.
There is a Doggy hotel as well as the shops where you can create and store up to 5 more dog's for you to drop off and collect at anytime but I don't advise this as it takes away from the fun of the game a bit best to stick to one or two and master the game before experimenting with loads of other dogs.
NINTENDOGS CHIHUAHUA SPECIFIC
Not all Nintendog games have the same breeds available so you need to unlock new breeds by completing goals in the game the new breeds will then be available in the kennel however this particular version has the following breeds available to start - Chihuahua, German Sheppard, King Charles Spaniel, Shetland Sheep Dog, Yorkshire Terrier and my favorite the Boxer.
Another option for unlocking new breeds is by wirelessly linking with friends who have different versions through the Bark Mode in the game this will add all their available breeds to your kennel and vice versa.
Apart from this the controls and game play are exactly the same no matter what version of the game you have.
GAMEPLAY
Very addictive and reasonably easy to learn however the Nintendo DS Lite has a more effective microphone than its original DS. Great for all ages but ideally for full enjoyment you should be anywhere between 5 and 75 years old lol. The game play is very smooth with no jumping and the storyline is exactly what you want it to be.
Graphics and Sound
Absolutely brilliant each dog looks so realistic and sounds just like the breed it relates to. You really have to see it to believe it as most DS games are very childish in their graphical design but this is better than the PSP for its look and design. What other console in the world can you train a dog verbally and have it doing whatever you want just with your voice the answer quite simply is none other than the Nintendo DS.
Price and Value
I would have paid double for this game simply for how advanced it is but the added bonus of brilliant game play fantastic graphics and sound just make it all the more better value for money. You can buy it in all decent games stores for £29.99 or if you are an EBayer you can get it for as little as £15.
I do hope you get out and get this game every DS owner should own a copy and if your not into computer games I do hope I have not bored you to much.
Advantages: Cute, interactive, fun to play to pass some time away Disadvantages: Speech recognition using the microphone not great (training takes some perservance)
I splurged out on a copy of this with some money I got for my birthday, along with the New Super Mario Bros. and 42 All Time Classics games, all of them I saw as being games that it seemed most DS'ers can't be without (or should at least try once!). I've always thought Chihuahuas are particularly cute, so, thats the ahem in depth reasoning behind this particular purchase(!)
Incase your not aware of the basic premise of this game, its basically a ... ...you then look after by petting and stroking and providing food, drink and toys and train, in its own room. You can even take it for walks outside (which is kind of cute, you can mark out the route to take in the pretend town using your stylus pen, with the puppy being walked with a hovering dog lead attached).
When you first put the game cartridge in and start, your taken to the kennels where your given the chance to look at and interact with a ...

Advantages: Interesting and has longeivity. Interacting with the dogs with the touchscreen. Disadvantages: Takes a while to get through the stages.
I enjoyed this game and although I've not played it for a while it's something that I could definately go back to. How the game begins
The game starts where you go to the kennels to buy your first dog. When you get the dog home your first job is to name the dog and then say the name out loud into the microphone until the dog unstands this. It actually took me over an hour on my first dog to achieve this task, however when I've names other dogs they've ... ...to have a name that can be picked up clearly by the microphone e.g., Shakira, and not one that can't e.g., Max!
The main game
After this the game really shifts up a gear. The main aim is for you to train your dog so that you can enter competitions and earn more money. More money = more dogs and more supplies. Although you can only have 3 dogs at a time at home you can house the others in the hotel in the mean time. You need to buy supplies to feed ...

Advantages: Huge interactivity, cute dogs and hours of fun Disadvantages: daily limits on how much you can do
Nintendogs is one of the first major game releases for the Nintendo DS since it's launch and, surprisingly enough, everyone is loving it to bits. Look after up to 3 dogs in your house at a time, Teach them tricks, earn money throw dog competitions and take your dog for walks to the shops and the park, picking up random items as you go. Plus the ability to connect wirelessly to a friend with nintendogs so your dogs can play together and build up your ... ...Gameplay 8/10 : This all depends on how you define gameplay. I think it can be pretty fun and, apart from on buses, the voice sensor to call your dog and get it to do tricks is awesome, although my dog seems to get confused a lot whenever i get a sore throat. Obviously, since it's a DS game, you use the stylus to interact with your dogs so you can easily zip through the menues to whip out a treat for your dog and also stroke them and things like ...

Advantages: YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN DOG AND IT DOESN'T MAKE A MESS!! Disadvantages: NOTHING!!
Ths product is well worth the money and is recommended to anybody over the age of three. This delightful game is sure to please any dog lovers as you can buy nearly any breed of dog depending on how much money you have to spend ( on the game ) and what Nintendogs you purchase as there are at least three other kind of Nintendogs such as Labrador, Dalamation, Daschund and the Chihuahua game. Purchase, name and bring home your own virtual puppy. Play ... ...for a walk. You can go to the park and meet new friends and puppies or just stay at your condo and hang out. Train your playful pup and win contests earning you money and allowing your dog to move up a class. The more contests you win the more breeds you unlock in all due time!! If you happen to think that you can handle more than one dog then you can buy up to seven dogs, but you can only keep up to three at home. The remaining five stay at the ...

Advantages: a wide range of lovable dogs! Disadvantages: Can get repetitive quickly for mature players
This game is a wonderful, bright and enjoyable game for any child. The range of dogs, the challenge of training them, and the joy of simply taking them for walks to the park, or to the gym that has made the Nintendogs series popular is continued here.
Younger players will find weeks of entertainment in this game as they can own several dogs and take care of them from brushing to feeding them. Players can enter contests and compete with other dogs ... ...allow there dogs to communicate with other dogs on a friends console.
However, for a more mature audience, this game looses its playability very quickly. The monotonous tasks of repeatedly feeding the dogs, and spending over half an hour saying "sit" and "lie down" into the DS's microphone soon wears on the patience, and after a few days the replay value of this game (and indeed entire series) wears off.
There are several unlockable breed of dog, ...
